Why won't my Nikon D3100 autofocus in video mode?
I bought my camera yesterday and it is supposed to continuously autofocus in video mode, but no matter what settings I choose it just won't do it. The only way I can get it to focus is by constantly half-pressing the shutter button.
Added (1). Yes, I have read the manual and searched the net.
Added (2). According to the manual it does HD recording with continuous autofocus. I saw it in action in the shop.
How to take a picture of yourself with a nikon?
This might be a dumb question, but how do you take a picture of yourself with a nikon d60?
I know that it has a self timer, no I don't have a tripod.
please don't say point it at a mirror and take a picture like that.
whenever I try to set up the nikon, try to focus it, and set the timer, the picture always comes out blurry.
sorry if this question is a little stupid. But this is my first time ever using DSLR.

Which Nikkor Lens is best suited for me?
I'm trying to decide between the AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8D or the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G. I'm interested in doing more portraits and I'm in college. I have a Nikon D80 and will upgrade in the future. Any help would be appreciated. I already have a AF-S NIKKOR 18-35mm 1:3.5-5.6G.

How to turn off flash in my Nikon D5100?
There seems to be no Flash Off option in the camera. There's a No Flash mode on the dial, but that's like Auto mode without flash. You can't use any other features with it.
General cheat sheet for aperature and shutter speed?
I'm new to photography and am still learning how to do everything manually. I just want a general cheat sheet to get used to before experimenting on my own. If you are outside and it's sunny, typically what is a good f stop/shutter speed? Outside but overcast? Inside? Etc. If anyone could just give me general ideas where to set the aperture and shutter speed and ISO that would be great!

According to imovie, the video format from the nikon d3100 is not compatible. I'm using MPEG Streamclip, how exactly should I convert the video to make it work?
