What do the ferrite cores for Nikon D3100 do?
Are they necessary to use?

Nikon D90 camera bag - Matin Leonard adventure 320?
I'm getting my Nikon D90 in less than a week and have been searching for bags for the past while;
i really like this bag, however i want a second opinion because i can't find any reviews- in terms of quality, durability, how useful it will be etc.

Is it bad if a professional camera has a couple dead pixels when you up the iso to 1600?
I'm trading for a camera to a guy who lives across the country. He says that the only problem is that when the iso is put up to 1600 there are a few dead pixels. Is this a big issue or would it not matter very much? It is a good deal for me because his whole setup new costs around $1600 and what I'm trading him only sells for $500. The camera is a Nikon D90 w/ 18 - 105 lens and a 18 - 200 lens. I'm trading my Planet Eclipse Ego 9 for the camera.

Cameras with good zooming range for occasional user?
I'm looking for a good camera that can zoom in enough to take good pics AND video if possible in a stadium for example, sitting in an upper level. I don't need a telescope to see the people's pores, but just enough to see their face.
I know nothing about cams and I don't plan on taking photos as a job or hobby. I just want something that gets the job done wherever and whenever, at a reasonable price… Under $400.
I was reading the review on the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX9V which sounds good to me but don't know if its the best I can get in that price range.
If I went above my price range to a Nikon D3100 Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm NIKKOR VR Lens which I like, for looks I guess and I know thats a pretty good cam, would I be able to take good pics and video as it is or would I need to buy mirror lenses to go with it costing me another $200+? All suggestions appreciated, thanks.

Seems i'm asking too many questions today. Anyway, ill be photographing a skyline/light trails on highway and want to try HDR too. It's my absolute first with it, I use a modest Nikon d5100 and have the kit lens with me plus a 28-100 5.6 nikkor lens. What should my exposure bracketing be? And anything on the aperture you can shed light on?

I have a budget of $300-400 for a DSLR body with no lenses. You can find a used D3000 for about $250, but are there some older models that I can find used that would be better?

Nikon or Canon Dslr guidance needed?
A new digital slr for the holidays would be nice, that's why it's number one on wish list. I'm looking for a dslr for around $800. I always wanted the Canon eos rebel t2i but now that the Nikon D5100 is out i'm not sure any more. I have a few in mind Canons- T2i, T3, T3i Nikons- D3100, D5000, D5100. What do you think, any suggestions? Which should I consider getting? Which Lenses? This will be my first Dslr
Added (1). Right now its between T2i and Nikon D5100. Which is better?

Which camera for concert photography?
So, I'm planning on getting a new dslr, and primarily for shooting concerts. I'm stuck between the Canon t3i and the Nikon d5100.could you giv me pros and cons for photos and video on each?

Mrs has a D60 with 18-55, 55-200 & 35 prime.
Managed to pick up a D3000 body only for a steal of a deal, now looking to get my own lens. I have no specialties, I'll shoot a mountain landscape or a deer 500 yards away, a little bit of everything. Camera is more for having fun with photos than a serious hobby.
Perfectly happy to buy used, but want to hang on to (In lens obviously) autofocus.
Been looking at Nikkor 18-105, competitor 18-200/28-200… Wondering if anybody has any stand out suggestions? A jack of all trades lens for everyday use.

When i try and take video on my Nikon it goes off after 10 min. Is there anyway I can change it to constant video? And also is there anyway to get constant focus? Like if you move around it focuses automatically in video?
