How to take a picture of yourself with a nikon?

Nicole

This might be a dumb question, but how do you take a picture of yourself with a nikon d60?
I know that it has a self timer, no I don't have a tripod.
please don't say point it at a mirror and take a picture like that.

whenever I try to set up the nikon, try to focus it, and set the timer, the picture always comes out blurry.

sorry if this question is a little stupid. But this is my first time ever using DSLR.

if it helps, I have 3 lenses.

AF NIKKOR 50mm 1:1.8 D

AF-S NIKKOR 55-200mm 1:4-5.6 G

AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 G

If you don't have a tripod, your best option is to have someone take it for you.

You really should get a tripod.

In the meantime, set the camera up on a low wall/stool/box with a small bag of rice under the camera.

Set it to manual focus. Focus on something that is the exact same distance away as YOU will be - I tend to put a doll/teddy/broom in my spot, manually focus on it, set the self timer, toss the decoy to the side and move into my spot.
