General cheat sheet for aperature and shutter speed?
I'm new to photography and am still learning how to do everything manually. I just want a general cheat sheet to get used to before experimenting on my own. If you are outside and it's sunny, typically what is a good f stop/shutter speed? Outside but overcast? Inside? Etc. If anyone could just give me general ideas where to set the aperture and shutter speed and ISO that would be great!
Thank you so much!
And if it helps I have a Nikon d90 with a 50mm lense (f1.4 i think).
If its sunny outside, sunny 16

On that page is also a table for other weather conditions.
However, I don't use this. I'll generally just set the aperture I need and adjust ISO and shutter speed accordingly. The good thing with digital is that you can review your image and if it is too dark or too bright you can take another shot.
Look up the "sunny 16 rule" on google.
You are missing the whole point of shooting on manual mode. You don't use cheat sheets, you learn how exposure works. You need to decide whether shutter speed or aperture is more important for the specific photo you are taking. Set the specific shutter speed or aperture you need, and then adjust the other to create a proper exposure.
Take a bit of time to learn a bit about exposure, there are free videos here that will help you. Http://www.mccordall.com/photography/

anyway, if you are in a sunny place, you can choose higher aperture. Or adjust until you meet desired. Every exploration is worth it. So don't be afraid to explore. The shutter speed depends on what result you want to achieve.
