Why can't I take pictures right away sometimes with my Nikon d7000?

Don't get me wrong I love this camera, and it takes beautiful pictures. But sometimes when I try to take a shot, it won't let me take it. I end up pressing the shutter a million times and the people I try to take pictures of lose the moment. I'm not stupid the camera is on, I assume that it won't let me take a shot if the picture isn't focused. How do I turn this off by not going into manual focus? I want it to take the shot when I press the shutter regardless if it's focused or not but still be able to focus when I give it the opportunity to. Can this be done?

What is the difference between a Nikon D40 & a D40X?

Tips and Constructive Criticism?

Looking to improve. Literally no one where I live is any good at photography and I'm completely blown away by the photos I see online and on photography forums, so hopefully some of you can help me out and tell me how I can improve. I'm currently using a Nikon D80 and have been shooting in full manual and know how to control ISO, Aperture, and Shutter Speed. Are there any other settings that could help me out or filters that I should buy? And editing ideas that can fix some issues in Photoshop or Apple's Aperture?

Sky is usually white in my photos?

I have a Nikon D80 and know all about Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO, etc. But all my photos that I take end up washing out the sky and making it pure white. Here's an example:

How can I change settings to make sure the sky stays blue and I still get a clear shot of the subject without them being super dark? Thanks!

Added (1). Yeah I guess I never thought about using a flash to make the face brighter, then I could tone down the Shutter Speed to make the sky look normal.

Help using nikon d3100 to take pictures of moving fish?

I've been saving money for this camera for 6 months. Yesterday I finally had enough to buy it.

I've had it for less than 24 hours, haha.

What kind of settings can I put it on to take pictures of my fish in my fishtank?

It focuses great on the ornaments in the tank, but the fish are blurs of color.

How can I get it to focus on the fish?

Is it possible to adjust shutter speed manually? I've found how to adjust aperture, however I do not yet understand the numbers.

Does IS on dslr's really make that much of a difference?

Which is a better buy?

is it more worth it to buy a more expensive camera + one lens because the quality of the picture would be noticeably better. However i would then need to buy an additional zoom lens.

Or, would buying a lower quality camera that comes with the two lenses work out better? However, the longer zoom lens on this bundle doesn't have IS, so would it actually be worth cutting down on the camera quality? Or should i just go for the more expensive and get better results?

i hope that all makes sense, as much info as possible is appreciated

thanks in advance.

Nikon D5000 clear lens cover?

I'm totally new to this camera and photography. I just bought a Nikon D5000 and am slowly leaning how to use it. I have been taking outside portraits of people with a 18-55mm lens. Is it better to use between 50-55mm for portraits? Will the pictures come out better?

Also, someone told me that there's a clear protecting cover you can shoot with that screws onto the end of your lens. Where can I find one? And do they effect the quality of photos?
