I'm new to the whole dslr world. Can you zoom during video on the nikon d5100? I've had some digital cameras that don't even do that so i want to make sure that you can with this dslr.also, does the d5100 allow you to capture photos during shooting a video?
DSLR Lens Adapters (read description)?
My dad has a Nikon d40 that has a telephoto DX lens, not sure about specifics. I'm planning on getting a Canon EOS 550d/t2i and I want to use that lens with it, is there any adapter for it? Since I checked online and i could only find ones that adapted newer nikon lenses to it.

How much better are DSLRs compared to Digital Compacts?
My friend bought a pretty decent point and shoot with 14 megapixels and I have a second hand Nikon D40x with 12 megapixels. He keeps saying his is better quality because the results look similar. I see where he is coming from and would I of been better off getting a camera that was much cheaper? What is your opinion on DSLR Vs. Digital Compact? I will always stay with DSLRs anyway:3

Any advice on how to take good photos at a christening?
I'm attending a family christening tomorrow and have been asked to be the photographer for the day. The thing is, I'm much more used to taking pictures of buildings and landscapes and have not had much experience photographing at events. I have decided I'm going to use a Nikon D40 camera, which has an 18-55 mm lens. I want to get some interesting shots that will be treasured and help people to remember a lovely day, it would be great if anybody could offer me some advice as to how I should go about doing this.

The zoom the camera has by itself is AWFUL, I need a lense with way better zoom, and preferably a lense that focuses a lot quicker. I take picture of usually just people, I don't need anything that will capture great flower photos etc.etc. I was looking at the Nikon 70-300mm, help?
