Getting my first SLR camera.which one would you suggest?

The people at the photoshop suggested Canon Rebel XS priced at $549
and the NIkon D3000 for $499.

I enjoy photography. I enjoy taking pictures of people and with macro.
Right now i'm not planning on buying another lenz.

Which one would you suggest between the two.
Pros and Cons.
Or if you are familiar with one of the two cameras what do you think of them.

What other types of camera makes better picture quality strength than the NIKON D50?

I would like them listed in terms of picture quality strength and resolution in descending other. Also what other type of camera (higher than the D50) would you recommend for making classic evergreen fotos of very high resolution. It could be of any make or model.

New Nikon D90 Body Coming Soon?

Does anyone have any idea about when a new Nikon D90 is coming out, what features it might include and how much it will sell for?
I'm looking to upgrade my D40x for college and I'd rather not waste my money if a new one is in the works.

Do I need to have a dslr camera already before i enroll to a photography class?

I'm confused if i need to buy a camera before i enroll to a photography class or enroll first and buy later, for now i'm thinking for a Nikon D5000 and D3100, do this cameras good for newbies like me?

I keep hearing rumors that there's a new entry level camera that will basically replace the D90. What will it be called and when will it be released? Any ideas on how it will differ from the currant D90?

Naming the photos! Nikon d5000?

Could I make my D5000 names the photo by date or time or any other format instead of this format: DSC_0027.JPG… Etc.

I wanna keep all my photo in one folder and can't do that now because I can't keep more than one photo with the same name in the same folder!

An idea please?

Canon Rebel Ti1 better than Nikon Rumor D3100?

I'm about to get a new camera and I'm an amateur photography lover. I was wondering which camera was better? I don't know much about either, and I'd like a side-by-side comparison? Any personal experiences? Which is better for an amateur photographer? What is one better for and not the other? Which one is lighter, more comfortable, etc? Any helpful information to assist me in making a decision would be great - thanks!

Is the Nikon D5000 worth the money?

I've heard and read many positive feedback about this camera but it's price puts quite a dent in my wallet. Is it worth the $600+?
Or are there cheaper&better options?
