Is Sony giving Canon and Nikon a run for their money?

Popular Photography's 2011 camera of the year is the Nex-7 and the article says that its closest competition among the runners up was the a77. Last year the top spot went to the a55.It seems IMO that Sony is really coming out with innovations and listening to what consumers want, plus they are focusing more on the consumer and pro-sumer models which is where the biggest market is right now and which will continue to grow as digital camera prices drop.

What are some Good cameras under $300?

My mom said she would get me a camera. I love the Nikon L120 but was wondering it if it is actually a good camera. I'm just beginning to take pictures and I need something pretty basic for now.

Blank screen on my camera what to do?

When I power up my camera it simply shows a blank screen, then I can't power it off.

Is there any way I could fix this… I'm really irritated.

Nikon dslr or dedicated video camera for creating video?

I have two Nikon DSLRs, but they have poor video capabilities. I want to shoot video, but I don't want to buy a Canon DSLR since it would require getting Canon accessories, so I want to stick with Nikon. But if there's a dedicated video camera that is inexpensive and whose captured images would be on the same level of a DSLR, I'd go for that since, I'm assuming it would be cheaper. What would be the best money-saving selection for me to shoot video?

Trying to buy a Nikon or Canon?

I have no idea what to look for when I'm buying a camera. I'm looking for a cheap model that can took decent shots (i'm not trying to be a professional photographer or anything of that nature).

What I'm especially looking for is a camera that can take great night time photos (cities at night, dark roads, moon, ect).It also has to be a manual camera. That's pretty much all I'm looking for right now. Please respond.

How to make pictures not be blurry?

So I just got this Nikon camera yesterday that was $300 and yesterday it was amazing! I was taking pictures of plants, flowers, and even my cat. They were coming out super clear! Today I was taking pictures and I noticed that they were coming out blurry. If I set it on the table, it wouldn't be, but if I held if really still it won't come out as clear as yesterday!

I don't want to take a tripod every times want to take a picture of plants and stuff. How to I keep my hand still so I don't make it blurry? I think it happens when I hit the clicker. Maybe there's a setting but I looked and I have blurry reduction on.
