What are some Good cameras under $300?

My mom said she would get me a camera. I love the Nikon L120 but was wondering it if it is actually a good camera. I'm just beginning to take pictures and I need something pretty basic for now.

I have a Kodak EasyShare C140 that I've had for years, and it still works good and takes just as good as pictures as my sister's new & flashy Canon PowerShot.
