Did i just buy the wrong DSLR?
Today i bought a nikon d5100 with kit lenses 18mm-55mm & 55mm-300mm with filter and 16gig SD card from $1000 AUD at JBHI down from $1500, i was so close to buying a canon 600D as it felt slightly better in hand and build, but the sales rep assured me the nikon was better.

What's a good lens upgrade for a Nikon D3100? Last December, I bought my first DSLR, which was the Nikon D3100.It came with a kit lens, the 18-55mm lens. I got hooked on the portrait side, also, I like taking pictures from afar.
So I was wondering what lens is good for an upgrade? I'm thinking of buying the 18-105mm, or the 55-200mm, but the 55-200mm is somewhat too close for normal pictures of people and stuff like that. Also, I find the 18-200mm really nice but out of the budget range. Is 18-105mm a really nice lens and would it be compatible with my D3100? Thank you.
P.S. I also like traveling around the country, so consider that, as well.
Best lens for the Nikon d5100?
I just bought a Nikon d5100 camera. I'm looking for the best lens that can do everything that I want. I'm looking to shoot outdoor photos mostly of my daughter and family. I also want to be able to shoot in motion as my daughter is at the age where she squirms a lot and its hard to get a shot without it being blurry as. Any other info would be greatly appreciated.
Added (1). Some good answers I've already pretty much learned eveything about the camera, I mean all the special effects and stuff my only real concern is her moving a lot I try to take shots and they turn out blurry because of her moving last minute… Do I just need to adjust the shutter time?
