*I'm an aspiring, promising young photographer but my parents refuse to pay for my hobbies expenses. I want a DSLR camera next and they want me to get the cheapest one which is all of $500… I narrowed it down to 2 choices, if any photographers have any tips that would be appreciated too (:
**Canon EOS Rebel T3 Black 12.2MP DSLR Camera, EF-S 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS II Lens, 2.7" LCD, EOS Full HD Movie Mode OR Nikon D3100 14.2MP DSLR Camera with 18-55mm VR Lens, 3" LCD, HD Video

What kind of lens would I need to shoot closeups with my Nikon D90?
I would like to photograph something the size of 2 postage stamps and have little depth of field.
If I had a choice, I would like to be about 12" away. Any ideas?

How much should I sell my Nikon D3100 for? - 1
I got the camera back around christmas time of 2010, and i didn't really use it that much, there are absolutely NO scratches or dents or anything on the camera, it looks brand new, the lens is in perfect condition and all the buttons work like new, its BASICALLY NEW, and I want to know how much it would be worth. Because its still considered "used" maybe simplified into "like new" but I need an estimate on how much i should sell it for.

How to edit pictures from my Nikon D3100?
I have a D3100 that i just recently acquired. I've always been a point and shoot camera person. Well I finally got around and bought my first SLR camera. Let me tell you, I love this freaking thing. Even though I've only had it for a couple weeks, i take so many pictures of anything I see. Most of them come out really bad because I'm new to all this, but some come out good. I know I just need more time, and practice.
Anyways, now that at least some pictures are coming out good, I've been wanting to learn how to edit them. I recently got photoshop cs5, for my birthday, and even though i've used cs3 and cs4 before, i'm still pretty new to photoshop. I use to edit things to change them drastically, even though they weren't any good or anything. Now i want to learn how to edit my pictures. I mean edit them in a way of changing lighting, and stuff like that. Not altering them in such a way that they don't resemble the original…
If anyone has a link to a site, that'd be awesome. In the mean time i'll keep trying youtube.
thanks.
Added (1). Thank you for the books selina.
yes that's what i meant, i know it'll take time, just like i stated on the question…
just looking for tutorials to get me started, if there's a cool site that you think is great, that'd be good enough.
I'm looking for something i can learn over a period of time, not in one night.

On a Nikon D90, in movie mode, are you able to change the pixel count?
I have it set to the highest quality yet when i'm attempting to edit my video on adobe premier, I open it up in QuickTime player the quality is diminished a little. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.

How to take fast water splash photos?
I have a Nikon d3100 and when I go on shutter priority the maximum is 1/200… How do I get 1/4000, etc?

DSLR lenses when to use 18-55mm and 55-200mm?
I'm completely new to dslr cameras and I'm hoping to buy one soon. I've been looking online and notice that most deals come with 18-55mm but then one that i'm really interested in comes with 18-55mm as well as 55-200mm. It's the Nikon D3100 that I'm looking at (http://www.jessops.com/online.store/products/81730/show.html). Some also say VR, IS (etc) so confusing.
When would I use each lens?
Sorry if this sounds completely ridiculous.

Where can I buy a nikon d7000?
This may seem crazy but does anyone know where I can get a d7000 for 700 or less?

Nikon D3000 built in flash not working?
I have a Nikon D3000 and it's a little over a year old and I've taken amazing care of it.
I haven't dropped it or anything either.
The built in flash isn't working, I was using it and it was working just fine then all of a sudden it stopped.
The flash will pop up but when I click the shutter button the flash doesn't respond and the camera acts as if the flash hasn't even popping up and tries to pop it up again even though it's already popped up. So I guess the camera doesn't recognize the flash is up. I'm not sure what to do.
The flash is in TTL mode and everything, it just won't work and the camera doesn't even realize the flash is popped up.

Photo shoot at a Pumpkin Patch?
So me and my two best friends are going to a pumpkin patch next weekend and we want to do a photoshoot there. Does anyone have any tips or anything for us to make this great? I have a nikon d3100 so i don't know what mode to use or anything like that so that would be great! Also what should we wear! And any ideas for poses or anything?
