Can you manage with nothing but prime lenses in your bag?

Since shifting from P&S to DSLR, I have been wondering about completely switching to prime lenses, as I don't mind switching lenses, instead of a single lens sitting on the mount all the time. Can anyone give me the pros and cons of doing so? Which primes would you recommend in a budget range in NIkon?

Added (1). I'm into candid street photography, occasionally, landscape, and sometimes birding and macro. I'm pretty sure I can do without closeup macro for now.

How to keep blue outlines from forming around white objects reflecting sunlight?

When I take photos of white objects (like flowers) in direct sunlight a blurry blue outline appears. I assume it's because of the light reflecting off the petals and back into the camera lens, but, I don't know how to keep it from happening.

I have a Nikon P90 which is a point-and-shoot camera, but, it's about as close to a DSLR as you can get, without actually being one. It lets me play with all the settings (ISO, shutter speed, aperture, etc) and I don't have to confuse it into doing what I want, like a lot of point-and-shoot's. I'm pretty new to photography, so, if I'm going to need a filter (one that I could hold in front of the lens) or some kind of light reflector, please give me a link.

Which lenses are better quality, Nikon, Canon, Leica, ect?

I just bought a Canon EOS 5D Mark II and now I need a few lenses, but I really, really, really need a macro lens. I posted a Question a few days ago asking if there are any off brand lenses that are not really expensive, but are still great. The answers to that question have made me realize that when you pay for superior quality lenses, you get superior quality photos

Now, I want to know if there's really a superior lens maker, or if it is just plain best to use the same brand lenses as your camera.

Added (1). Kerrok, i just wanna say that i'm not skimping on the quality, in fact, the point of asking this question was to see if i could get better quality lenses from another lens maker like nikon, or leica

What dslr camera should I purchase as an amateur looking to start shooting?

I'm an amateur photographer with very little education in the art. I'm looking to purchase my first dslr camera very soon. As a broke college student I'm looking to minimize my spending as much as possible. I wouldn't mind going used, but I really have no clue what kind of camera I'm looking for. From what I've been reading, I hear the body is less important than the lens. I will most likely be shooting portraits and people, landscapes, and night shots. I would like to stick to a Nikon as my mother owns a Nikon and I'd like to be able to swap lenses with her. I'd be willing to go Canon too. Any good cameras I should check out? Maybe some older models that can still do the trick?

Is there a market for my old slr cameras-all pre-digital?

Do my lenses adapt to a common popular digital box or should I unload the old stuff and buy a new DSLR. I hold pristine condition---Maxxum 7000 with AF 100-300, minolta---1.5 m / macro---with spare body---an x-700 / 2 x with 50 mm. & a Nikon EM with 1.8 x 50 mm

Best SLR camera for beginners to shoot portraits, partys and weddings?

I want to become a portrait and party photographer. I have great images in my head and want to make them real. I want a SLR camera for very amateur photographer, that will be perfect for theatrical ( very bright and colorful), staged shots and bright food shots. Also I want a camera that will work with alot of lenses. Because I'm planning to buy those.
Anyway, I'm just internet searching for last weeks. And I'm looking between canon and nikon. Since they are main manufactures and will work with plenty of lenses.
I just need an advice. I have a great eye and artistic side. I want my pictures be anything but boring and average. And I know that brand and price of a camera is just 30% of success. But I want something to begin with ( i never had an experience with SLR before, but so looking forward to it)
Price I'm looking for is $700- $1000.in best case scenario, this price will also include extra set of lenses, if not its still good!

How come my Nikon D-SLR isn't working?

The last time I used the camera, back in August, it worked fine. I tried to take some pictures tonight and it said "lens not attached", despite it making the normal clicking sound. Is this some sort of sensor error?

Film on Nikon not showing up?

Okay, so I have a Nikon FE, and I went through 4 rolls of film recently. I got them developed today and at least half of my pictures did not show up on the negatives or anything. Also they were all upsidown. I'm kinda new at all this so does the upsidown thing mean the lens is on wrong? Also, Why didn't my pictures show up?

Added (1). Also, for some odd reason, most of the pictures that didn't show were the ones I took outside?
