What would be the best to start with?
Recently some of my friends got me into acting and filming. I really like it and I might be taking a TV Production class next year. (I'll be a senior in high school) This would be my first time doing something like this even though I've done films with friends for a couple months. I'm doing more during the summer so i'll get a little bit more experience.
What would be the best camera for making videos that aren't too expensive (maybe $700 max? Or a bit over if it's worth it) and what would be a good program for video editing? I was thinking of a Nikon D1300 but if you guys find a better one, i'll look into it. Thank you so much.
Added (1). Thanks Dennis
I have a Windows 7 PC currently.
Pentacon 50mm 1.8 on Nikon SLR compatibility?
This is a really old lens I found. It has an adapter for F-mount and I tried it on a Nikon FM-10 and it seems to work. This lens is really weird though. When you turn the aperture ring it does nothing and is always wide open. There's a button on the side of the lens that you can press down and the more you press it down the smaller the aperture gets (f1.8 to f16). The lens also seems to meter correctly. I haven't took any pictures yet just testing it without film. Do you think this lens will work even though you have to use the button to control the aperture?
Added (1). Oh and when you press it down the viewfinder get's darker so this a stop down metering lens.
Added (2). ***I just figured it out, you set the aperture you want and press hold the stop down button and take the picture. The blades will go to that aperture. Now I'm wondering if the pictures will come out right I won't know till I try.

I'm about to go on an exchange program and want to buy a camera. Any suggestions?
I will be going to France with an exchange program for a year. I don't have a lot of professional photography experience, but I'm pretty good at figuring out technological things as I go, and I would really like to be able to take some really nice pictures while I'm there. I've been taking a look at some Nikon's, but I honestly have no idea where to start. My loose price threshold is around $500.00, but that is only a guideline, and I certainly don't mind spending a bit more if it will meet my other criteria.
Can rain get in a weather proof camera if the lens is not weather proof?
Will it just damage the lens or will it damage the body too because the lens leaks water through the lens mount and into the camera? What lenses are weather proof? I heard 70-200mm and 24-70mm are so is it mostly expensive ones? (both Nikon/Canon)

Photographing the solar eclipse tomorrow?
I'm using a DSLR nikon. And always have a uv filter on it. Is it going to be ok to look at the sun during the eclipse? From my location the sun will be un the horizon an hour or so before sunset.ist the thing about looking at them an old wifes tale? I watched the sun come over the horizon this morning with no problem… It didn't even seem bright until it got higher in the sky…
