Best digicam under nikon or canon under 10 K?

I need a expert advice. I want to buy a camera that should have 10MP, HD video, 5X zoom and good battery life and should be under 10k. I have read good reviews about canon point and shoot.suggest me the best canon model.

or should i look in nikon or sony

In a way, it doesn't matter. The important part of a camera is the lens. The camera body is going to replaced several times while the lenses will last a lifetime. Either Canon or Nikon are fine--there is little practical difference. If you need to save money, purchase a used body. Don't scrimp on the lenses.

Go for canon sx150 s or canon ixus 115 hs /220 hs
they are the best in that price range
megapixel doesn't matter(true resolution matters)
if you want 720p hd and more zoom(12x) go for sx 150 s
if you need 1080p and less zoom (5x) go for ixus 115 hs
my advice is go for ixus 115 hs as it is having cmos sensor

Canon IXUS220 HS is the best.
