Nikon d700 and canon 5d?

I noticed that d700 is generally considered better (for photographic and not videos features) than 5D by expert photographers.blog comments as well as real conversations.
but I also noticed that most of the pro or semi-pro users actually choose the canon 5d.
what's the reason in your opinion?

Looking to upgrade Nikon DSLR. Advice needed? - 1

I have a Nikon D70 right now and would love to upgrade. I love the D700, but can't afford it. I'm looking for something under $600 that is a DSLR. I like the flip out LCD feature, but that isn't too important. I would like it to have HD Video capibilities. Any suggestions? Been looking at the Nikon D3100.Is that a good choice?

Proper camera settings for a picture?

I'm camera stupid. However, I need to take pictures of test tubes with light colored gas in them. I prop them up against a sheet of ultra white paper. No matter what setting I choose when I bring them up on the computer the background is yellowed like an old photograph. These need to go into a word document so would like it to be as white as possible, plus it makes the gas in the tubes hard to discern since they are shades of brown (some very light). Can someone help me figure out how to set up my camera to take a good picture?

The camera is a Nikon D100 and the lens is an AF NIKKOR 18-35mm (it's the only one I have). I do have a copy of the manual but it is over 200 pages and I'm just lost with this. Playing around with settings isn't getting me anywhere, assuming I'm even adjusting the right things.

Looking for a good setup with my Nikon D200 (not too familiar with nikon lenses)?

After finally deciding on buying a Nikon D200 (couldn't resist the price of $350), i now have to buy some lenses for it.
I only have $330 left to spend on a lens or a couple if i'm able. I have had my eye on the Micro Nikor 60mm 2.8 but that would be the only lens i would be able to buy right now. I'm not to familiar of the Nikon lens selections so i don't know if there's a slightly cheaper macro i could buy and still be able to afford a cheap wide angle or zoom lens. So any recommendations would be great, Thanks.

Lensbaby Fisheye Optic for Nikon d300?

I just got my new Lensbaby Scout with the fisheye optic for my Nikon d300. However, when I try to zoom in, the image is blurry. Are the lens not inserted correctly? Also, the screen keeps telling me "lens not attached". I can only take a picture when I use the manual setting.

I have a D200 nikon automatic?

Lately, the display screen flashes and the camera turns off while using it.
Sometimes not a minute goes by as I'm shooting without it turning off. The batteries are charged up. The display flashes and goes nuts and the camera turns itself off. It must be sensing something is wrong and it turns off to protect the system but I have no idea what is causing it. What's happening and how do I correct it?

Which is wiser? Fiscally cheap or more durable?

I'm an amateaur photographer and just broke my plastic mount lens on a Nikon D200. As i'm searching to find a new lens, i find two great ones! Technically, they are the same thing, but one is plastic and sells for 400 and the other is metal and sells for almost 900.Im a student, so price really matters to me, but taking into account that i'm shopping for a new lens because i just broke my plastic mount changes the matter. Do you think i should buy the metal one or be cheap?

Added (1). Mr. Gimli, To answer your question the metal mount is the AF-S DX Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 ED VRII and the plastic mount is the AF-S DX Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 ED VR
So their pretty freaking close.
