Remote shutter releases for Nikon D90?

I have the ML-L3 remote but I'd really like one I can use without having to point it directly at the front of the camera. Price isn't really an issue. I'm willing to save up to get something that will last for years. Something that's also compatible with higher-end models (like the D700 and up) would be a huge plus, since I will probably upgrade in the next couple of years.

I don't really need specific model numbers… Even a brand name would help tons! All I've found on Google so far is sales pages for the ML-L3.

TO BUY, OR NOT TO BUY?

I got into photography in a big way around 12 months ago, and I bought a canon sx30is for £300 later on.

I was very pleased with the camera because of its incredible zoom range (24-840mm), however I soon became bored about 3 weeks ago with the slow responsive time of the camera, because it took ages to zoom and focus.

So I started to look at cheap dslr 's with interchangeable lenses, shuch as the nikon d100. I bought the d100 with a 24-100mm lens for £200, however my parents said it was too close to Christmas so it has gone away for a Christmas present.

When the camera arrived my parents let me use it for an hour, then it had to go away, but I soon realised that the quality wasn't as near as good as my sx30is. The zoom and focus was very good though.

If I'm lucky I might get about £400 for Christmas and I'm tempted to buy a nikon d3100 second hand for around £300 because this is the same quality as my sx30is (near enough) and it has interchangeable lenses. I could buy a lens for about £100 and I would have the perfect camera kit for me.

I'm 14 and I've learnt a lot about cameras, I know apature, ISO, Shutter speed, Depth of field, the works, but i'm not too knowledgeable about lenses.

Should I get the camera? Or save up for other accessories i've been meaning to get for my other camera.

NO B. S Please!

Need help on nikon cameras

For nikon cameras, can you put the same lens on all different DSLR cameras? Like i have a 70-300mm lens. Can I put that same lens on a nikno D300, D3100 or D90?

If so, does that mean that the same 2x teleconverters can be used for any nikon DSLR?
