Nikon D200 and Lens 18-70mm having Auto Focus problem?

I have this Nikon D200 with Lens 18-70mm, unfortunately the auto focus is not working. I think the reason is with my camera settings. I'm new with this type of camera. Can anyone give me a good suggestion? Thanks.

Added (1). Yes, It was set to M/A but still its not focusing. And I was set also this to C S M…

Added (2). Yes, I was set already to C and S but still the same. This lens working with D90, D700. I don' think that my camera has a defect because I have two other lenses 18-55mm and 70-300mm and I can't see any problem with this.

Added (3). Thanks for your replied guys. This is my lens http://www.nikonusa.com/...IF-ED.html I don't know if it's G type or what. So you would suggest that I have to choose Aperture Priority Mode to make it f22? In this case my lens will be reset or something. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Nikon D300s and glass for Canon EOS 5D and glass?

So I'm going through something of a crisis - I've had the thought that I might like to trade my D300s and 17-35 f/2.8 (genuine Nikon) for a Canon rig with similar glass. I recently saw a forum post offering a 5D classic and 16-35 (and a bunch of other bodies and lenses) for Nikon gear. I'd lose a bit of money if I were to do this trade, but I might be more satisfied with the FF Canon. Yeah, they don't really compare - the D300s and the 5D are on different planes, but do you think it would be a good trade for me? I mean, the least expensive (and moderately OK) Nikon is the D700 (whose successor should be coming within the next couple of years). And its $2500…

Does the Nikon D300 have a live screen view?

I'm thinking about buying the Nikon D300 but I read that it doesn't have a live screen to look at before you take a picture. Is this true that i can't look at a moving picture before taking a picture. I do not really like looking thought the little eye spot at the top.

Switching from Canon to Nikon?

I currently have a nameless Canon T_i, and a Sigma 18-200mm, a 50 f/1.8. I'm considering for my next camera upgrading to a Nikon D300. What would be the easiest/most economical way of switching to Nikon?
Thanks!

Looking for a good nikon dslr camera?

I'm looking for a camera because i want to get into photography, not for a job or anything just like a hobby. I was looking into the nikon d100, but i think that one was released in 2002, and it seems kinda old and out dated. I also looked into the d50 and d70, and i'm not sure which one to buy.

I'm looking for a used one because my budget is around 300, I saw some of the d50s and d70s for around 250 used.

I also saw they have those cool pix ones but, i've heard they have slow shutter speed or what ever you call it. I'm looking for more of a d100 type.

Oh, and i think the ones I was looking at only include the body, which i think means no lens?
