DSLR Lens Adapters (read description)?

My dad has a Nikon d40 that has a telephoto DX lens, not sure about specifics. I'm planning on getting a Canon EOS 550d/t2i and I want to use that lens with it, is there any adapter for it? Since I checked online and i could only find ones that adapted newer nikon lenses to it.

There's, but a good one is going to be expensive.

Here's a far out idea, also buy a nikon and share lenses!

Newer than what? The Nikon DX lenses are all less than 10 years old, amazingly enough, just like the Canon EF-S lenses. Any adapter for F-EF will work, more or less.

You will find that adapting Nikon DX lenses to Canon bodies is a waste of time and effort. You can't control the lens at all, only attach it to the camera. That means no autofocus, and no aperture control. If you can find an adapter to allow either, it will cost more than just buying a Canon telephoto to begin with.

Seriously, just get a lens made for a Canon.

There may be an adapter that will make the lens fit but how are you going to control it? If you want to borrow your dad's lenses get a Nikon camera. It's as simple as that.
