How to get my Macro Lens to work?
I have just bought a Nikon D3000 digital camera, and a Tamron 70/300mm Macro Lens.
Although the lens works fine, auto-focussing etc, when I move the button on the lens to MACRO, nothing seems to happen.
I took pictures of the same subject, from the same distance, with the lens set to MANUAL, then again with it set to MACRO.
The pictures are identical.
Is this correct? Or am I missing something.

I have a Nikon D3100. I'm thinking of buying the Nikon 50mm f/1.8G but it's an FX lens. I know that there are disadvantages if you put a DX lens on a FX body but are there any disadvantages of putting a FX lens on a DX body? If so, what are they?

How to create a high resolution 300dpi image?
I'm using a Nikon D3000 DSLR Camera

Do Dell online orders ever come up as cancelled by accident by the company?
I'm working for my dad's friend, and my reward for the work was going to be a Nikon D5100 from Dell.com. The delivery date for the camera was supposed to be Sept 28, 2011. When I went check their e-mail to see the order status it said: cancelled for the delivery status. My dad later talked to them about it, and they told him that the company said orders come up cancelled a lot by accident due to the company. Is that possible? Or did he just cancel it on me?

Nikon D90: Set Picture Control?
My dad bought a Nikon and doesn't know how to use it, so he dumped it with me. I'd like to change the saturation settings, but when I go to Menu>Shooting Menu, the top selection, Set Picture Control, is inaccessible. When I select it, a little error box says "This Option is not Available with Current Settings". What am I supposed to do to set it properly? This goes the same for several other options, including "White Balance" and "Active Lighting". I can't access these either, and some others.

What type of lens is good for portraits/close ups? (Nikon)?
I like to photograph nature up close. I have a 18-55 lens and can't capture exactly what i'm liking to. I also want to be able to take portraits. What lens would be good for me?
I don't want to spend more than 400$ Unless the answer is Really good and I do research and fall in love with the product. So any recommendations/reviews are welcome!
Added (1). Ps: I have a Nikon D5000

Nikon d3100 camera just shows a loading screen and won't take pictures?
I have a Nikon d3100 camera and whenever i try to take pictures, it just shows a little hourglass figure (loading screen?) and won't take a picture. It won't even let me see my pictures that are on the camera. What's wrong with it?

I know about the rule of thirds too. I dunno if that helps.
Please don't point out the obvious and say I should ask my Mum, I do. It's just that she's very busy doing wedding photography and editing them.
Oh! I also have Adobe Photoshop Elements 9.0. But I'm going to get CS5 soon! Ahh!~
I would appreciate if I had some photographer's visit my Flickr page and give me critique also! I'm very committed to this and I would do anything to be able to express myself through the beauty of Photography and become like my Mum!
(btw my Flickr page is very empty because I just started tonight.

Does Nikon D5100 compatible with Nikon AF Zoom-NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4-5.6G Lens?
I'm trying to buy this lens and I'm not sure if its compatible or not. I don't really care if you don't recommend the lens to the camera because there's no focus motor thingy in there. WHat i'm asking is, can i use the lens in the camera?
