Know of any good point and shoot cameras?
I have a Nikon D3000, but I don't always like carrying it around.
So, I'm looking for a good point and shoot camera that's not super expensive. Something that I can carry around with me especially for vacation, but I still would like it to be a good quality camera.
I've been searching around, but nothing really stands out to me quite yet. Wondering if any of you have any suggestions.

Auto focusing trouble with my nikkor 50mm 1.8d?
I bought this 50mm lens at a garage sale today for my Nikon D90, I got it for 40$ so I can't complain about the price that's for sure; but upon trying it out at home I soon realized that it can't auto focus which is strange since the D90 is supposed to have a built in auto focus motor I thought, although I do not have any other manual-only lenses so I'm not sure if it's a lens problem or a camera problem. When I manual focus with the lens it does feel a little bit dirty or sandy, as if some little bits of sand or something may be stuck inside the focus ring; would that possibly stop it from auto focusing? Is there something I'm doing wrong? Like some obvious setting I need to activate to turn on the auto focus motor? Also (this is a really dumb question) is it possible the grains of sand might fall back into the camera damaging or dirtying the sensor or something? In which case should I not be using the lens at all… I know I'm asking a lot of questions here, but I would appreciate an answer so much!
Added (1). Fhotoace - Can you at least say why it is such a "dreadfully wrong" problem with the lens? Because from the shots i've taken so far I would say it works perfectly fine (apart from the AF not working, which is what I'd really like to get an answer about).

In need of a flash for a Nikon D5100?
I don't need the crazy CLS as of yet. The flash I need is more is for more of a hobby, I don't need to be professional yet. I take pictures of things, people, animals, etc. I'm looking into the Nikon SB-400, the Sigma 530 Super Flash for Nikon, and the Polaroid 144-AZ for Nikon. I'm going to help shoot a wedding at the end of the month with my aunts. Which of these would be the best? Is there any other suggestions beside these which are good for an amateur photographer? If so please list then!

What is/are good lenses for the nikon d5000?
I got my camera in 2009 around when it came out and ever since i've had the lens it came with.i've been thinking about going to B&H to buy one but a lot of them are expensive.i'm only 14 so something i can afford would be nice.i'm super into photography and taking video on my d5000 so a lens that is good for that as well would be nice.
Added (1). The lens it came with says: VR Nikon DX AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm 1.3.5-5.6G
Added (2). I like shooting pictures of mainly people and plants. Video as well but not heavy professional video, just something with good quality and sound. I would've chosen a d90 at the time but its too expensive and the screen can't be adjusted. I recently started looking into the d5100 but I already have the d5000 and I don't want two cameras (maybe I can sell my d5000 with sd cards). But yeah that's what I mainly shoot.

What is the transparent plastic cap on the back of an SLR camera lens called?
I have a Nikon D60 and the plastic cap came off of the body of the lens. What is the correct name of this so that I can purchase another one?

How to remove a uv filter from a dslr without breaking the filter or the lens?
I have a 52mm rocketfish UV filter on a Nikon D3000 and I want to remove it because the uv filter hit a concrete wall and made a crack on the filter lens and now some of my pictures show a line going through it.
