How to remove a uv filter from a dslr without breaking the filter or the lens?
I have a 52mm rocketfish UV filter on a Nikon D3000 and I want to remove it because the uv filter hit a concrete wall and made a crack on the filter lens and now some of my pictures show a line going through it.
A filter wrench might work.

Take it to a real camera store and they should be able to remove the filter. If there isn't a camera store close by go to the grocery store or Walmart and look in the kitchen appliances section for a large rubbery disc. They are sold as aids to removing jar lids and might do the trick since they prevent your hand from slipping. If that fails then you may have to invest in the filter wrench.
Your question might make people who say a UV filter shouldn't be used rethink that.
