What kind of fancy camera this was?

My teacher has a nice fancy camera that shoots video at 1080p and takes good quality still shots. It's fairly newish. It was either a Nikon or a Canon. I think he said it was around $700 but i'm not sure, although I know it wasn't anymore than $1000. Anyone know what it could be?

Added (1). B.E. I - Although it seems you are incapable of actually answering questions and only know how to give your opinions, I will enlighten you: It's fancy to me, and most people, since it's not just a basic $100 point and shoot. A fancier camera, I would have described as "expensive and professional". And I would have asked my teacher, but I won't see him again till next week and I can't contact him. I'd go into more details for you but that would be utterly pointless.

Is there any nikon camera from the beginning of time that shoots in black and white only?

I know that it depends on the film but was the coloured film discovered before the first Nikon camera?

If I bought this camera, would I need to buy lenses too?

Well I've been looking around for a photography camera, and it's going to be my first one so I just want something small to start off with, and nothing majorly expensive. Then when I get deeper into it, I'll buy a more professional one.
But this camera is only the body:

so could I buy lenses for it? Because It says I can zoom and everything, but would it just have to be like that? Because it looks like I can adjust lenses to it if I bought some.
Please let me know, and other information is appreciated too.

Why are canon nikon cameras so similar?

Thet will never pass a blindfold test, except by a proficient photographer with adaquate experience.

For the past few years, i've explored so many different systems, and image formats. The results and challenges i've been able to overcome has been an amazing experience. I've learned more with the various format film cameras than i could possibly learn with a digital camera(in a lifetime).

Cameras include,
Pinhole, rangefinders, slrs, dslrs, tlrs, lfs i.e. 4x5.
I've been using the same film almost exclusively. Ilford hp5. 135, 120, 4x5 sheet film.
Learned so much with these cameras and film.

Why don't canon and nikon expand their camera line and offer a number of different cameras. Each with their advantages and disadvantages. Let this help photographers see the world a little differently with each new camera they offer.

Strobes vs speedlights?

I'm a photo college student looking to expand my lighting set up.
I shoot with a nikon 7000 and an sb 600 now.
I just sold my sb400 because I never use it since I have a 600 now.
I used to work at JC Penny's portrait studio, but that's the only studio work I've done.
I'm getting into doing weddings and senior pictures, I love that my 600 can go wireless,
and I really love that I can use it on my film camera.
whatever I get I want to also be able to work wireless and work with my film camera.
I use reflectors and what not now but I want to at least have a main light and I fill light,
I like the idea of getting another 600 because I know how to use it and I can use it wirelessly
at the same time as my current 600 in commander mode.

however, I don't like that if I'm not facing my 600 it won't trigger.

so many say strobes are so much better. Are they?

Added (1). Thanks for the help everyone, that cleared things up pretty well.

I was keeping that 400 for back up but I'm gonna buy a new one before my next wedding so for now, I don't have anything to worry about.

I'm looking for a nice camera?

I was going to get the Nikon V1 but then i realized its only 10 megapixels? I'm wanting a really clear photo for my clients but i don't know if the 10 megapixels will give me that… Would it be worth the money to get the 24 megs in the Sony NEX 5? Or will 10 megs be fine?

My First Camera: where to begin? - 1

I think I'm ready to buy a DSLR camera. I really would love to begin using one and practicing. Yes, a camera certainly doesn't make a photographer and it will take time to understand each and every setting/function, but I love photography and I would love to take pictures (maybe even video!).

Here's the problem: I don't know where to start. Canon, Nikon, Sony… Which manufacturer? How different are the ergonomics of each camera brand (the way they're built/how they feel)? Do I really need to go to camera shops and hold these cameras to see my preferred taste? If that's the case, I may be in for a challenge. Because I live in a fairly rural area with no camera shops nearby. I've been to a Best Buy that's 40 minutes away, but of course, their cameras are off and you can't use them (that I know of), you can only hold them.so. Any advice? What should I do? Is it arrogant of me to want to jump into buying a DSLR?

I've used my mom's Sony DSC-W190 ( http://store.sony.com/...=DSCW190/B ) a bit, but it's just kind of dissatisfying. I think I'm willing to pay around $600-700 for one, and maybe even $800 if it really needs to be stretched.

If I can get in touch with you via email or some other form, please tell me. I would love to continue this conversation with someone who knows about it.

How to fix my nikon fm 19 lens?

My lens broke off this morning, but i don't know how. I'm scared i might mess something up though so if anyone knows how to mount the lens on there or of any places near Orange Park, FL that can fix this type of camera, i would really appreciate it.
Thank you in advance.

Added (1). It's an FM10 i wasn't sure because its actually my sisters camera, but i just wanted to find out for her. And Yes, it broke off. How would you not understand that? Anyway. I dropped the camera from our couch accidently and the lens "broke off" the body of the camera. The reason it's hard to fix it is because there's a bunch of little plastic pieces that connect the lens to the body, and a lot of them broke off. Thank you Johnny Martyr and B. E.I. For you guys trying to help us.
