Is an 2.0 Micro Sd card a regular sd card?

I bought a Nikon coolplix L105 and it didn't come with memory card. So if I buy a 2.0 micro sd card and put it in my adapter will my camera carry pictures?

Well, I know that no brand will ever be able to release the sort of 'iron horses' that film cameras used to be for obvious reasons, but I'd like to know if based on your experience you could say something about the durability and quality of the best known brands: Nikon, Canon, Sony, Olympus, Samsung…
I've been told to follow the 'X' that make Nikon and Canon when they 'cross' their qualities: Nikon's are better for high end DSLR's and Canon's are far better for low end consumer cameras… Is this true?

Nikon or canon in the long run? (lenses/entry level)?

I'm deciding on buying my first entry dslr.i'm not asking which camera i should get like i did in my last question.i'm asking which one is worth investing money towards. I know people say "nikon people will say nikon, canon will say canon" and that's alright.

i know that lenses will be important so i'm unsure.
i've done nikon and canon photo comparisons for months (i know that i can't just judge from these based on the photographer experience) but honestly canon photos look more attractive among the flickr community compared to nikon ones.

my main question is which brand (not camera) would be worth it ultimately (including lenses).
please tell me all you know about both brands if you can, not just that "nikon people will say nikon, canon will say canon."

So I'm interested in photography. Not necessarily looking to buy a camera immediately, but maybe one of these days.

I have an SLR that my dad (a photography teacher) handed down to me that I've used before, but that was half a decade ago. What are cameras like these days?

I just want something that'll let me take better pictures than what I'll get with a point and shoot or cellphone camera (though I guess that's not hard). Maybe a mid-range DSLR?

What brands are recommended? I hear Nikon makes good stuff.
What kind of specs should I look for? I know there's more to picture quality than megapixels (which are just the size of the picture, essentially). Stuff like the sensor quality and processor speed.

Are Nikon F, AI, AIS, and G mounts the same?

I'm buying an adapter to fit nikon lenses for my camera, and there are different adapters on ebay, saying Nikon F adapter, Nikon G adapter, Nikon AI adapter, and so on. They're all different prices too, so I was wondering if the mounts are different? Will buying just one of them do for all of my old (manual focus) and new Nikon lenses?
