Most durable brand for Digital cameras?
Well, I know that no brand will ever be able to release the sort of 'iron horses' that film cameras used to be for obvious reasons, but I'd like to know if based on your experience you could say something about the durability and quality of the best known brands: Nikon, Canon, Sony, Olympus, Samsung…
I've been told to follow the 'X' that make Nikon and Canon when they 'cross' their qualities: Nikon's are better for high end DSLR's and Canon's are far better for low end consumer cameras… Is this true?
It all depends on how far you drop them.
I (we) own 4 Nikon DSLRs, 3 of them for over 5 years. Nary a problem with any of them. I've dropped the D200 and D300 a time or two, too. The D300 gets a lot of use, some of which can be considered hard use as if I was a working pro. As if…
Don't get an Samsung they break so easily lol.
Canon I found always lasted the longest for me, I've had my Canon one for about 6 years now ^__^
And yeah I've been told that the Nikon cameras are more 'professional' and Canon are just every day cameras.
So yeah Canon.
All brands have the high end line which are built well.
I have a 7D, feels solid enough to bang nails with (altho I wouldn't recommend it)
It's also splash proof, very handy when shooting in the rain or snow.
It's all about what you see and feel with your senses: a well built heavy metal body, will last much longer than one light and fragile plastic one…
Also, if it's Japan made instead of China, even better.
