Does anyone think the nikon d3100 is way better than the 5100?

I'm really asking people who have had them. Not info off the internet I've been googling it for a while. I think when I had the 3100 the focusing was better. Like I could focus on eyes or whatever with the red dot. And the 5100 has a larger sensor which really doesn't seem noticeable. I'm thinking of trading back to the lesser model until jan when I upgrade to the d800. Any opinions?

Thoughts on the Nikon D7000?

I've read reviews and have some insight but I'm curious to know what the more serious photographers in this section have to say.

I'm currently shooting with a D300 and would like to add the D7000 to my arsenal at some point. The D300 belongs to the company my husband works for and is loaned to him for as long as he's employed with the company. Although my husband has no intentions of leaving the company any time soon and his job is stable (he's been with them for 9 years), I'd still like to be able to purchase my own camera with no strings attached or any worry I'll be left without a camera.

It may be awhile before I can buy it (though if I'm lucky it could be sometime in the spring) but I feel that if I get good advice and opinions from those whose opinions I know are solid in this section it'll help my decision process. I checked out the D3200 just for giggles recently and it's just too small for me. I've grown accustomed to a large, sturdy camera like the D300. If I had the budget for it I'd consider the D600.

So… Thoughts? Thanks for any insight!

Added (1). @ PT: Yea, I do like the functionality of the D300. Those switches make life so much easier. I'm a simple gal when it comes to shooting and hate wasting time fiddling with menus.

Thanks for your thoughts! Something to think about. I may have to just go to my local camera store and fiddle with it myself to see what I think.

Blurry Nikon d200/300 Photos?

I take photos at a racetrack. I use my boss' camera for the job. He has provided me with a Nikon d200 or a d300.It works fairly well during the day. I have backlight issues, but I can deal with that on Photoshop. I'm mostly concerned about how blurry my photos get when the light starts to fade at the end of the day. My finish line photos are fine, but my winner's circle photos are always blurry on both of these particular cameras. I have tried every possible combination of iso and shutter speed. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to avoid this problem?

How to take a picture of myself moving or jumping?

I would like to take a picture of myself jumping in the air, moving around in general. Instead of paying a photographer to do this I thought I could buy or rent a camera and do it myself. I have read that you need a high shutter speed. Say I wanted to jump over a hurdle. Is there anyway to set the camera up so that it will take continuous pictures and then afterwards I can sort through them picking and choosing what I want? And if so what type of camera would I need? I have read that Nikon D700 or Canon 5D Mark 3's are good. Or do I just need a professional photographer?

Upgrading from 35mm film to DSLR?

I've been shooting 35mm since about june and i think i'm ready to upgrade to dslr in time for christmas. I've been looking at several different cameras from beginner cameras such as the Nikon D5000, to mid-Level's such as the Nikon D200. What differences are there regarding exposure settings, menu navigation, etc. Thank you so much! And is the D200 full frame?

Added (1). D200's go really cheap now, too.

How to start a career in adventure photography? What kind of equipment would I need?

I like climbing mountains, hiking, and trekking. I'm thinking that I'd like to take a year or two to travel and take pictures and try to start a career in adventure photography. I met a famous climber/photographer and it looked really great.

What kind of equipment would I need? The photographer that I talked to used the older versions of the Nikon D800 and Canon 5D Mark III. I was also looking at the Sony a99. What are some good lenses to have? For example, if I went on a climb or trek and only wanted to bring what I needed? I would bring maybe a couple prime, a zoom and a wide angle? I was also looking at Sony NEX cameras.

Would this be an interesting thing to try? I don't really have a career. I have anxiety issues. I'd like to find something that will make me happy.
