Nikon vs Canon, why is one better than the other?
I can give actual models but basically I've been instructed to buy a $1600 Nikon for a photography class. I found a Canon for $500-700 that has a higher mega pixel. I have compared the two side by side but unfortunately i don't know enough about cameras yet to know what to look for.
Nikon D3000 or D3100 vs. Canon EOS Rebel XS, Canon EF-S, or Canon 18-5515 Kit.
Or if you know of a good site for comparison shopping & detailed info it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Added (1). I'm going to assume it's the camera he has - so he's teaching off of that. I agree, embecile, but if he can give me some pointers & I'm sharing the class cost with a friend… So be it. Thank you though, I think I will now be going for the Canon Rebel XS on your advice alone. I'd like to make some side money doing this someday you see…

What Nikon lens to buy after getting D3100?
I just got my first SLR and want to go ahead and buy a sec lens. I want something that will be good when shooting at night.
And I'm debating with these three lenses: 50mm/1.8G AF-S, 50mm/1.4G AF-S or 35mm/1.8G AF-S. I would like to know what's the difference between the three, and if there's any other lens that I should consider as my sec lens please let me know and why should I get it.

What is a cheap and good external flash for Nikon D70 (to shoot weddings)?
I'm in need of a flash, BAD. But i do not want to pay hundreds of dollars for something i don't need, specially since i'm not making any profit. I'm an amateur photographer who shoots friends/family weddings for a hobby. I keep seeing "ttl" and "wireless remote" and I don't even know the difference of a flash unit with or without the ttl wireless remote… I'm so confused! What is the cheapest, yet good nikon flash that i can get for my Nikon D70 that i can use to shoot night weddings? Any help is appreciated!

I need help at selecting microphone and it's equipment. I need it for youtube vlogging and youtube music. I also would use it to record music (vocals, guitar). If it's important with what i would be shooting, i'm going to use nikon d5100. Feel free to give your suggestions

I just got a new Canon EOS 60D, but I haven't really used it. I'm still waiting for it in the mail. Anyway, I'm used to a Nikon D60, so with this new camera's quality, will I need to worry about editing to make the pictures look nicer? And if so, what type of photo shop should I get? I'm also interested in close-up filters. What filters will work the best for the Canon? Thank you for your time and help! Any additional information that will help make my pictures even nicer will be greatly appreciated.
