New Canon EOS 60D Camera?

I just got a new Canon EOS 60D, but I haven't really used it. I'm still waiting for it in the mail. Anyway, I'm used to a Nikon D60, so with this new camera's quality, will I need to worry about editing to make the pictures look nicer? And if so, what type of photo shop should I get? I'm also interested in close-up filters. What filters will work the best for the Canon? Thank you for your time and help! Any additional information that will help make my pictures even nicer will be greatly appreciated.

"will I need to worry about editing to make the pictures look nicer?"

if you didn't need to worry about editing the photos from your D60, then you won't need to worry about editing the photos from your 60D

"what type of photo shop should I get?"

A small store on a brick street in England, one that sells Canon cameras.

On a more serious note, Lightroom 3 is popular among photographers. Lower cost solutions are GIMP and Raw Therapee

"What [close-up] filters will work the best for the Canon?"

A $1000 camera deserves a real macro lens for it, not some close-up filters. But if you must use close up filters, check out the Marumi brand of close-up filters, they are better than most. Also any older Canon or Nikon close-up filters that will fit your lens.

Canon 60d and Nikon d60 have similar image quality, if not the same. (In fact I doubt Nikon d60 has slight edge in image quality)
You might be wondering why is Canon 60d expensive?
Because of it's build quality and articulated LCD, and live view and HD videos. As far as the image quality goes, Nikon d60 has a "larger" sensor than Canon 60d, hence Nikon has better image quality.

As the gentleman above suggested, you can try using Adobe lightroom.
Close-up filter don't do any good, get a "Macro lens".

- Oh yes, get a better lens, invest in glass not in camera.
80% of the image quality depends on lens, not on camera. Nikon d60 with a 1000 dollar lens will perform 10 times better than a Canon 60d with a kit lens.
