Quick.need the settings to put my camera on for lightning?
I have a nikon d3100 and it's heat lightning outside right now and it's dark so i need to know what settings to use real quick. I have tried what i read on google but the picture comes out dark.
Added (1). Okay so the only way i can get to bulb is under (M) mode and i have it on bulb but the aperature is at f5.6 and i don't know how to change that.

Most of my photography is equine related. Please feel free to give me tips, my camera is a nikon d3000 (digital slr) and I'm 14 years old. Just started getting into photogaphy this June.
How does she get her pictures to look like that? (Picture examples included)?
In the photos her skin and clothes are all brightened to the point that she almost looks deathly white. It makes the colors pop and the backgrounds are all dark. I don't think its from using her flash. She has no fancy equipment but her canon rebel something and a standard lense. Almost all her photos are like that, even on facebook.

How can I make my portraits so crisp clear and bright like that? I have a Nikon d3100, and gimp/picnik.

Added (1). When i take a photo of myself with flash, it looks way different.everything on my face is highlighted and looks bad. It doesn't appear the same. I don't think it's just her flash.
Nikon d40 problem.error message?
It was working today but all of a sudden it stopped. Its 4 years old. Nikon d40.Im careful with it. I did mirror lock up to clean it and noticed where the senor is its blocked by black flaps. Or something of that sort. Its part of the camera. Not sure why honestly. What do I do? If I have to send it in how much will it be.
It comes up saying. Error press shutter release again.

Hi. Can someone tell me how to access the mode where you get to choose from sport shots, night-time pics, food shooting and a bunch of others. Can't seem to remember from a course I took.

just bought a nikon d3100 dslr camera, does normal af lens work ordo they have to be af-s lenses
