What are some of the better digital cameras? (Preferably under $600)?
My friend had a Nikon D60 and eventually got a Nikon D40. He takes amazing photos, but I would like to know what else is out there, before I go out and buy one.

Why does my Nikon D40 not take as well pictures as a nikon D3100?
I'm using the 18-55mm lens and the pictures that my friend takes show a lot more quality. Is that due to the 4 more mega pixels?
Is it worth it upgrading to a D3100?

I'm getting a Nikon D70 tomorrow (body only) What would be the first lens i should buy for it?

What is best for an older person, a Nikon digital SLR or a Nikon point and shoot?
My 72 year old Grandmother wants a Nikon digital camera. I have Nikon d5000, and she wants the same one. Should I get her a digital SLR or a point and shoot? I think I should get her a point and shoot because of her age and because she isn't tech savvy, but she wants on like mine!
Please help! I want her to be happy with what I get her.

What are the Sony and Pentax equivalents to these Nikon and Canon cameras?
What are the Sony and Pentax equivalents to the Canon t3i and Nikon D5100 in both price and features?

Nikon D40 over & under Exposure problem?
I have just bought a Nikon D40 and after playing with it for a while I realised there's a big problem with it. It overexposes and underexposes at the same time in the same picture. Just like when you would shoot high contrast photos. Compared with D90 looks just wrong.
Any help or advice? Many thanks
Added (1). I know D40 tends to overexpose and I know how to overcompensate it. Trouble it that now all pictures look wrong, like on forced high contrast. Just like shooting out of the window and catching some of the room too, only the pictures are all taken outdoors. Just plain wrong.

Point and shoot vs dslr.going on holiday?
I'm going on a holiday to scotland and I was wondering which camera to take. I have a Nikon D90, and a 50mm 1.4 lens which i originally bought for portrait photography. I don't have any other good lens apart from the one that came with the camera. I also have a point and shoot. Canon powershot sx220. Which to take?

Which Digital SLR Camera is best?
I'm looking to buy my 1st Digital SLR camera, I've used them before but I've decided it's time to buy my own. Which of the following 3, if any, would you recommend? Also, if you can think of any others which would be good for me then I would really appreciate it.
Nikon D40
Olympus E-450
Canon EOS 1000
If you're going to recommend a different camera, it must be around the £300 price mark, I don't care if I have to buy a used one as long as it will be a good camera.
Here's a link to some photos i've taken on my Flickr account if you want to get a jist of what kind of photos I will be taking…

A friend was using my Nikon D40 when it made a loud popping sound when trying to take a picture. The camera then shut itself off, and we have not been able to get it back on since. My warranty has expired, so I'm trying to find any ideas of what might be wrong with my camera, or if anyone has had a similar problem.
