How to take light streak photographs with a Nikon D3100?
Okay, say I want to take a picture of a street at night, but I want those streaks of light from the cars' headlights/tail lights… OR write my name with a flashlight or whatever. How would I do that? I know it has to do with shutter speed, but how do I make it faster/slower? The manuel doesn't really help:/

Good but not to expensive professional camera?
So i'm fifteen years old and i've been wanting a good professional camera for a long time and i had my mind on the nikon d3100.
i love the way it takes pictures and the price is very good but my cousin went and bought it so i don't want to "copy" her.
what are other similar cameras to that one.doesn't need to be nikon. But around the same price and maybe a little better than that one?

I'm planning on buying a NIkon D3100 DSLR camera and all the reviews say one con about the camera is it doesn't have an external mic. What does that mean?

Kindly suggest the best book on Nikon d5100 for beginners among these,
Nikon D5100 For Dummiesby Julie Adair King
Nikon D5100by Rob Sylvan
Nikon D5100 Guide To Digital SLR Photographyby David D. Busch
Or in general what's the best book to buy to learn about dslr photography?

My question is, which is the best Nikon camera to buy having the budget of 1, 000$?
I really liked the D5100, but have been reading a lot about how you should buy a normal body and focus more on the lens. What do you think? If the lenses are more important, can you give me some lenses for the Nikon camera (maybe D5100) for most popular situations (like close-up, light, night, and i don't know what).

Nikon D3100 annoying focus sound during video?
I want to buy a Nikon D3100 but i've been watching test videos on youtube and while recording video there's this really annoying sound from the lens during focus! Comments say it's just because it's on autofocus… How can you change this?
Most importantly: if using manual focus will the sound still be there?

Problems With My Nikon D90 Flash?
I can't get my D90 built in flash to stay closed. Is there a quick solution?

Which should I take with me on my trip to winter camp?
This Christmas, I got an iPad 2 and a Nikon d5100 DSLR camera with two lenses and I'm not sure which to being with me. I know I'm going to get bored, so I want to take the iPad with me, but I could also take beautiful shots with my new camera. My mom said I can't take both, so I'm going to have to pick one. Which should I pick?

Charging battery inside Nikon D5100?
Is there a way to charge the battery of a Nikon D5100 while still inside the camera and or on? It seems there's no way I can do this even connected to my computer or laptop.
Definitely seems like a major flaw in the design seeing how I use a program on my laptop to do time-lapse and even just keeping a charge for the duration of some setups.
I've searched Google for what seems to be eons and haven't found a hint of ideas.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advanced.
Added (1). Is there a way to do this via USB versus AC power?
