Best Nikon Camera (budget)?

Jess

My question is, which is the best Nikon camera to buy having the budget of 1, 000$?
I really liked the D5100, but have been reading a lot about how you should buy a normal body and focus more on the lens. What do you think? If the lenses are more important, can you give me some lenses for the Nikon camera (maybe D5100) for most popular situations (like close-up, light, night, and i don't know what).

Yes Nikon D5100 is an excellent choice.

the body is very important.

if i were you i would get a nikkor 50mm f1.8, this lens is very good for night videos and photos, its well designed for portrait, and has great shallow depth of field for bokeh effect. The bad thing is that it does not have autofocus, only manual. Which is far more important if you want to be a professional

Lens #2 70-300mm Lens, which is good for shooting distant subject such as moon, birds,…

Lens#3 the body kit lens i.e 18-55mm that is suitable for general purposes

if you can't afford a lot of lenses then go for Nikon D3100. And buy more lenses. But i strongly recommend you go for nikon d5100.

Well the D5100 is already cheap and a great body, your only cheaper option is the D3100. A good prime lens would be the 50mm f/1.8G, excellent for portraits, low light and outdoor stuff. For close ups you get a macro lens, and there are many more depending on what you need.
