Is this camera worth the money?

Is the Nikon D3100 worth approximately the £400 that it sells for?

I have had a few people tell me that it is fantastic, and others try and put me off. But i'm not sure whether they are trying to put me off because i know that they used to want this one until they went for a cheaper make and maybe now regret it (just by the way they said it made me wonder whether it was them or the camera that is the problem!) But i'm unsure. Apparently if i wanted to take a quick photo without a lot of arranging the subject then the photos blur a lot? But surely changing the shutter speed would help reduce this if i were to change it?
I also do a lot of videoing and was told that it goes out of focus extremely easily, is this true?

More to the point, is there a huge noticeable difference between the Nikon D3100 (£400 ish) and my current Fujifilm Finepix S1800 (was £150 at the time)?

I'm just a bit confused with people telling me different things for different reasons!
Huge thanks!

Added (1). Thank you Ian -

If i were to buy a lens more specific to videoing would that make quite a big diference to the focusing? X

Nikon D5100 Video Mode?

Okay So I'm a 14 year old girl. For my birthday my father bought me a Nikon D5100.It's great I really like it. The thing is I'm not a photographer and I'm new at things like this. So when I take videos and I want my camera to focus it makes this weird noise. All of the Nikon D5100 do this noise while focusing in video mode, but I want to know if there's any other lens that can minimize this noise? Or maybe a accessory.

Nikon D3100 Camera for Concerts? - 1

I just recently bought the Nikon D3100 and for years I have just simply taking my Kodak Zi8 to concerts and music festivals to simply just record video for my own recollection but I was thinking the other day if the D3100 is fit for the job? The incredible heat, the lengthy day, having enough memory? I have a 16gb memory card, it works fine. SDHC. But can I take it to a concert and it will last me the whole day? Gates open 11 am, I leave around 9 pm. I don't plan on taking many pictures, but many videos. Maybe when I'm actually there I probably will end up taking many pictures, I don't know… Also the music festivals I attend are one with crowd surfing and mosh pits so I was wondering if the D3100 is sturdy and can take a little bit of extra-force. Do you recommend it? Should I take the Zi8 just in case? Also! With the auto-focus and such will I be able to hear it while recording or will the loud music drown it out?
AND YES THE VENUE I'M GOING TO ALLOWS DSLR'S!

Added (1). I also plan to take snippets of the festival! Songs only, and only the bands I like!

Does the Nikon d3100 use a SD card, or a Micro SD card?

I'm was about to buy this for it, and thought, I hope it doesn't use micro SD.

Which is better between these two cameras?

I'm looking into buying either the 'Nikon D3100' or the 'Canon EOS 1100D'.
I mostly take animal and people portrait photos (an example being animal photo shoots with owners) some just standing/portraits and some 'action shots' (though mostly portraits).

I also do a lot of videoing. This doesn't have to be absolutely incredible but i'm hoping for something with a good HD recorder and a possibility of lenses in the near future that can give a more 'movie type look'? (this is just what a friend suggested)

I wondered whether you could suggest which of these two cameras may work best for me and also any other suggestions that may help me with what i would like to do? Sorry for my ignorance, i can take photos well but when it comes to taking about the technical bits i'm awful! So i hugely appreciate your help! X
