Shooting lightning with Nikon D3100?

I have been trying to capture lightning because of all the storms here letely, I was wondering if there was an optimal Iso setting and shutter speed, I have been going at 1/320 and a very high iso, I expect I don't need my iso high because of the light from the lightning. I also think my shutter speed might be too high. Any suggestions would be great!

Nikon D70 photos coming out incredibly dark?

I got a Nikon D70 with multiple lenses from my uncle. Whenever I take photos, they come out super dark. I've tried editing them, but they're so dark that trying to lighten them makes them look grainy, and there's barely any contrast. I've tried multiple lenses, so I know it's not the lens. I've put everything on automatic and even "reset" the camera to factory settings, so it's not the ISO settings. I don't know what's wrong! This is the only camera I/my family has, and I'm going to Turkey next month. I've brought it to some local camera shops, but they say that no one will locally fix a digital camera. I don't know what to do! Has anyone else had this problem? How long would it take if I sent it to Nikon, because I want it in time for my school trip… Does anyone know what I should do?

Is my D3100 Faulty? Or could it be user error?

Recently purchased a Brand New Nikon D3100 but I'm having problems taking photos; could it be faulty?
I have followed the set up instructions as far as I can see but I just get totally black images… And yes I have taken the lens cap off! I have re formatted my 4 GB sd card and get the same result. The video viewfinder doesn't display an image either? BUt icons are displayed. Could there be a fault or is it user error? New to DSLRs so not sure if it is something I'm doing. Or whether the settings are correct. I have the same problem taking stills and video. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Added (1). Having messed around with various settings… E.g Aperture f 5, 6, ISO2800 with flash on & off. 55mm zoom. Even on Auto mode. Both indoors and outdoors in full sunlight I still get a totally black image.

Added (2). As suggested below. All auto settings on and picture of a car taken in full sunlight with sun behind me. Totally black images. Complaint lodged with Nikon and photos attached. Really hope I can get it sorted soon. Not amused.

Any recommended cleaning lens kit?

I'm looking for a good cleaning kit for my lenses - any recommendations are appreciated. I accidentaly dropped my lens into the sands.

in addition, does the sensor cleaning option on my nikon d5100 will clean the dust and sands out of the sensor? If not, any cleaning kit for the sensor as well?

Added (1). Oh - and how do you generally prevent dusts while changing your lenses?
