Macbook Pro won't recognize Nikon D7000?

I just got the Nikon D7000 and I'm trying to plug it into my macbook via the USB cord to get the pictures off, but when I turn on the camera nothing pops up on my laptop. But, it works just fine with recognizing my Nikon D40x. Any help?

It is likely that your Macbook doesn't have the right drivers installed. Did the new camera come with any software? If so, pop the cd into your computer and install it. Otherwise, go to the Nikon website and check the support page for that model. It should have the various software and driver options for the camera.

Stop using the USB cord. Buy a $10 card reader.

Either use the Nikon Software, Lightroom or get a card reader and plug it in. The card reader is really the way to go.

The solution is simple: quit using the finicky USB cable and just put the SD card into the corresponding SD card slot on your macbook, or if you don't have an SD card slot, purchase a card reader for around 10 bucks. It's a lot easier than plugging the entire dang camera into the computer.
