Nikon D3100 Hairspray contact

Basically my mother borrowed my camera and put a bottle of hairspray in there as well. NATURALLY the cap came off and covered my camera. I have been using the manual focus because the autofocus is not working.

Auto focus - The sensor light comes on and it makes a little noise the first time you press the shutter button (as if it is trying to focus) but the lense will not move. I have checked inside the camera and all looks normal and untouched by hairspray. I'm wondering if it may have just gotten inside the lense? Or if there's anyway to open it and/or fix it.

Buttons - The tricky part (as I CAN in fact manually focus if I have to) is that the buttons also seem to be shot on the left side of the camera. All except view mode. Not working: Menu, both zoom buttons, and info. I can't even get into the menu to change settings.

I understand that this is terrible that I let this happen to my camera, I just want to see what the best way to fix it is or what parts need fixing. I brought it into a shop and they said I had to send it in to have them look at it. THEN send it back in to have them fix those specific parts. All of this wracking up to the total of a new camera.

Help if you can, I will try anything! I have only had this camera for 1 year.
Thank you.

Added (1). I'm aware that that is what must have happened. I'm just wondering if there's anything I can try to fix it. Spending a ton of money on a new camera isn't really an option right now and if i'm going to do it I would like to try everything that I can before hand.

Nikon Lenses for d3100 for beginners?

I have bought a d3100 recently and this is my very first DSLR camera. I would like to get into photography as a hobbie and I was wondering where I can purchase cheap lenses, they don't have to be great brands or quality, even used because I would like to experiment and learn before I splash some cash on decent ones when I'm financially able to do so. Thnak you very much in advance!

Links, and information will be appreciated!

Nikon D3100 best setting for football game crowd?

I'm taking pictures for my school's Yearbook. I've already been taking pictures with my D3100 but when I take pictures of crowds at my school's football games the pictures turn out bad. Without flash the pictures look flat and flash makes the people look different.

What is the best lens and setting for this kind of pictures?

Nikon D60 battery doesn't charge anymore?

My battery doesn't charge anymore. The charger light blinks as usual but it never stops blinking (charged mode) and even after 8 hours the battery is not charged. I checked and cleaned the terminals with no effect. Is the problem with the battery or the charger? I need to understand it before replacing one of the two if necessary. BTW the batter was running strong until yesterday and I had the camera bought in 2009.

What camera should I replace my Nikon D90 with?

My Nikon D90 was recently stolen, along with AF-S DX 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED VR II lens. I should be getting between £1, 000 - £1, 200 from the insurance company to spend on a new camera. Would you recommend replacing it with the same model, or would you perhaps buy something else?

Added (1). Thanks for all the answers everyone. I think I'll take a look at the D7000 as it seems to be the general consensus.

Just to clarify, they're sending me Jessops vouchers for a currently undisclosed amount, although the chap at Jessops did have to get back in touch with the insurance company as they hadn't requested enough vouchers to cover the cost of replacement. I'm still waiting to hear back from either of them to confirm just what the amount will be.

AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D lens with the camera D3000?

I have a lens Nikkor 50mm f / 1. 8D with Nikon D3000 camera, but the Aperture Ring on the lens can only be set at minimum aperture 22, when the Aperture Ring setting in another instance 16 or 1.8 then the camera was unusable (error), with a description of the camera "Lock Lens Aperture minimum Aperture Ring (largers f /-number) "!
Is there damage to the lens? Or a camera with a lens that does not support it?

Please help colleagues to the solution.

Thank you…

Added (1). Does Aperture Ring on the lens can be set other than to the minimum aperture 22?

Do all Nikon DSLR's use the same lenses?

I was hoping to surprise my other half with a Nikon d3000 DSLR camera this month, but I know that down the road she was hoping to buy extra lenses to enhance her camera. I've heard that Nikon Lenses are the best but do all their cameras accept all the different lenses they offer? Or do I need to buy a particular model to take advantage of the extra lenses?
