Is it good or what other good cameras do you recommend?
Should I ask for the Nikon 1 as my christmas present?
I don't have a camera, and I thought that maybe I should get one since I just started high school and will have a lot of memories to cherish? But is the Nikon 1 a good camera?

Ok so my mom was diagnosed with a type of heart disease so our budget has been low these couple of months. My parents are divorced and I was thinking of not asking for anything but my mom insisited. I have: android, nikon camera, t.v, lots of makeup, books. I was thinking of asking for a Macbook Pro 13 inch with my student discount (1, 100). I really do need a new laptop, my keyboard is broken so is the mouse, the battery is horrible(it has to be plugged in for it to turn on) and its OLD. (2008)acer which sucks. There's also this band trip to boston were having in the spring. My teacher said it was around 950-1000 there's also an 8th grade trip(80). I don't knoww. I don't have lots of going out clothes, but there's going to be almost no dresscode at suncoast(high school i'm applying for) so that can wait(it will be part of my school clothes) i don't know what to ask for! I'm in need of a little help choosing a camera for my sister for Christmas. Any experienced camera buyers help would be much appreciated. I don't really know what brand to go for, like nikon, fuji, canon, etc. So if you could tell me if there's much difference between them i'd be grateful to know.

Ok, so i'm becoming interested in photography. My sister is an amazing photographer and is majoring in advertising photography for editorials and stuff. Some people i'm friends with on facebook take some really cool photos but i mean they are only in 8th grade so they must just have some simple cameras. I want one like the Nikon 1 but it is $650 dollars. I want to ask for one for christmas, like i said something like the Nikon 1 that is a nice camera but cheap and for beginners kinda! Is it insane to say in the range of under $100? Could you give recommendations maybe within 100? Thanks so much in advance!

Cleaning an old camera battery compartment?
I found an old 35mm Nikon camera. I opened the battery compartment (whatever it's called) and the batteries inside were covered with brown/white crusty stuff. I took out the batteries and cleaned it up. There are still small amounts of white residue inside, but is it safe to put in new batteries now?
