How long can a battery last?

Last January 16, I bough a Nikon D5000 + Sigma 70-300mm. I have 4GB SD card, and one battery.

If I were to shot RAW + Jpeg Fine, how many shots can I make with just one battery? I'm asking this because I'm thinking of a buying another SD Card in preparation for Dinagyang Festival this Saturday and Sunday. I can't afford to buy another battery so, if my current battery can only last for a 4GB, I will not buy another SD Card.

This is Dinagyang

14 groups are participating this year, which will last between 8:00am to 1:00pm… After that, there will be street dancing until 12:00 midnight.

Camera Lense Advice Please

So, I'm a high schooler who is in love with photography. I shoot a Nikon D5000. And mostly, I shoot people (heatshots in particular) and nature. But I think its time to get a new lense, and I'm in need of some help. I'm looking for a more reasonably priced lense that would work for portraits. So far, I have an 18-55mm and a 35mm. Any suggestions on my next step?

Trying to choose between lenses for a nikon d50.which is better?

I'm planning to buy a nikon d50 (secondhand) and there are two i'm trying to choose between.one comes with a AF-S DX 18-55mm lens and the camera's shutter count is around 6500 while the other camera comes with two lenses, a Nikon AF Nikkor 35mm-70mm 1: 3.3-4.5 lens and a Tamron AF Aspherical LD 28mm-200mm 1:3.5-5.6 lens but i'm not sure of the shutter count, i only know that the seller bought the camera from a friend who she said takes very good care of his belongings and she has hardly used the camera. The price of this one is $100 higher than the other. Which would be the better buy? Thank you!

Added (1). Is 6500 a good number for a secondhand camera?

When to use which lens for wedding photography?

So I'm shooting my first weddings this year, and I don't have the $$ to buy a better lens, so I'm going to rent a few.
I have a nikon D90 and I'll be renting a lens kit that includes AF-s 24-70mm f2.8 G IF-ED N lens and AF-s 70-200mm f2.8 G VR IF-ED lens, also the Nikon AF-s 10.5/2.8 DX Fisheye Lens.

I know the 24-70 and 70-200 are my top choices, and fish eye i will only use for certain situations, do you think I only need the 24-70 or only the 70-200? I would love to olny get one, but if I'm going to need both i will.

Thank you IN ADVANCE
p.s. I have a speedflash sb600, reflectors and such, do you suggest any other equipment.
My first wedding is the couple only, no party.

Added (1). They don't have any of the lenses you listed for rental, i want to stick to the ones i listed.

I need some creative ideas for flower photography?

I have to do higher photography at school and the weather just now is rubbish, there's like no flowers. So I bought a bunch tonight for some photographs but I've had such an awful day I have no creative flow so was wondering if you guys have any suggestions?

I'm looking at other photographers work but sometimes a personal opinion is better.
I'm a beginner so can't get all technical and stuff unless someone talks me through. I use a Nikon D40.

Is the Nikon D3100 an upgrade from the D3000?

I've had my D3000 for a year now, and I have Best Buy's 4 year accidental coverage on it. Considering the coverage, and that it is still in great shape, I could probably sell it for nearly the price of a new D3000, and pay just a little more to get a D3100. Big differences between the two cameras are: 14.2M vs 10.2M (prob doesn't even matter at this point), CMOS vs CCD, 1080p video vs no video, and LiveView vs no LiveView. Is it a worthy upgrade?
