Planning to buy a Nikkor 50mm f1.8 (can anyone give some advise)?
Can anyone please provide a comparison photo taken from a 50mm f1.8 and 18-55mm @ f3.5
All setting should be the same except th f-value.

Is the video recording of the Nikon D3100 any good?
I'm looking to an entry level camera dslr. I might be getting the Sony a390 because it is similar to the nikon but i want to know if the recording for the d3100 is worth the extra money. I'm not really big on filming so should i go with the sony and later on get a cam corder or the all in one nikon. My bday is coming up on the 26th or March and turning 15 so its good to know before hand what to get.
What's your oppinion on which Nikon Lens that suit me?
I'm tyring to decide to get either Nikon 70-200mm/F2.8 VR1 or 70-200mmVR2/F2.8 or 80-200mmF2.8 or 85mm/F1.4. I love to shoot indoor/outdoor potrait, occasionly my wife in action on volleyball court, indoor event (wedding, family gathering) and once a while my kids performing on stage. The price does matter, but I don't mind pay more if it make a synificant different with my purpose above. (Fyi- I'm using D40 with intention to get D7000 soon. I'm using 35mm/F1.8 right now including indoor event).

Why changing ASA settings for my D80 does not improve shutter speed?
I own a Nikon D80 for a year now. In low light conditions i try to increase the ASA setting from 100 to say 1600 but i do not see any difference in shutter speed when shooting in P mode.
Example: Let says that at ASA 100, P mode: shutter speed is 1/15, f 3.5
even in ASA 1600, shutter speed can't be increased / improved at all. 1/15, f 3.5 stays as only best option…
What am i missing? I thought increasing ASA would let me significanty improve speed…
Does any one have good suggestions? I'm thinking my camera is faulty… What's a good check if ASA ring works right or not?
How to connect my Nikon D40x usb port to the Firewire 400 port in my Macbook?
I want to use the Application 'Image Capture' on my Macbook but for image Capture to work i need to connect my Camera (Nikon D40x) via firewire, but my camera doesn't have a firewire port, all it has is a small USB port and a v-out port. Is there any way for it to connect? Firewire to usb maybe? Or are there any Firewire adapters (might be making those up) about that would in anyway connect to the camera?
