How to turn the lcd display on for my nikon d5000?
I have nikon d5000 and i want to view the shot on the display
Lens won't stop up aperture manually?
I have a vivtar series 1 f/2.8 28-90mm lens, nikon f mount. I can get the aperture to close if i push the camera aperture control switch closed, while the manual ring is closed down. It then opens and springs closed like a lens without a manual control ring. But if i open it back up with the manual control, it will not closed again until i push the camera control switch manually. Being as i have a d40, this means i have to dismount the lens every time i want to close down the aperture after opening it.
so, what would cause a lens to open manually, but not close manually, and is there anything i can do to fix it?
Tips for shooting landscape photography?
I enjoy taking landscape photography but whenever I shoot, my photos don't come out very sharp. The landscape isn't blurry as much as it is soft. Is there something I can do with my camera settings to fix this? I tried using a smaller aperture and it still yielded the same results. Is there any tips anyone has to help fix this problem? I have a Nikon D3100 with a polarizing filter and a UV filter. I usually use my 18-55mm VR lens for landscape.

Nikon D3000 error press shutter release button again?
I got the Nikon d3000 for christmas. And i was just taking a normal picture. The setters were on auto which i never use but for some reason i just had it on auto. I took a picture, it worked but then it said error press shutter release button again. And every time i press it it makes a weird noise and doesn't take a picture.i'm really scared that its broken! But i didn't even do anything! It didn't drop or anything! What do i do? Can i fix it? Or call nikon or something?
Tips for shooting lightning/thunderstorms at night?
I have a Nikon D3100 with the standard 18-55mm VR Kit lens and I also have an 18-270 VR Tamron zoom lens. I also have a polarizing filter and a UV filter. What are the best settings for taking pictures of lightning at night? I'm pretty new with photography and haven't tried this before. Any tips and info would be great. Added (1). Thanks for the tips so far! I'm shooting in RAW so would white balance have a huge effect on the image? I planned on going back and correcting anything like that.
What DSLR would be most appropriate for a beginner. Nikon or Canon?
I'm looking for a reasonably priced slr camera. Just for recreational uses, and am confused about what to get. The nikon d3100 looks good, though the new d5100 looks good? Not sure about the canons - 550d could work. There are lots of mixed reviews and i don't know what specifications are most important. I would just like some help please!
How to transfer pictures on my Nikon transfer software?
I have the Nikon transfer suite installed so that I can transfer images to my computer from my Nikon d5000.It is installed correctly, but when I have the cable connected to the camera and the camera on and everything, no images show up like they should. How can I transfer anything if no images will show up? Why could this possibly be happening? I appreciate your help!
Would it be ideal to get a Nikon d3100? I was about to buy a Pentax k-x and i wanna give it a second thought. I'm a beginner. Which cam would be more ideal for me?

Nikon d5000 shoe mount repair?
So i have a nikon d5000 body, and a sb600 flash.
so it was on my desk fell, when the lense was attached and when it fell the flash cuased to whole top part to break off, so the hot shoe broke off with the flash,
my camaras my life, and source of income.anyone know around how much it would be to get it fixed? Where to get parts? Videos any information at all
