Will this FX lens work on my Nikon D3100?

This lens http://robertscamera.com/photo/lenses/for-slrs-dslrs/primes/af-s-nikkor-50mm-f-1-8g.html is advertised of having FX format, while my Nikon D3100 is DX format. The lens, as advertised, is compatible with DX, FX, and FX in DX crop mode. Would this work on my D3100? How would this affect the camera operation, especially the aperture control?

What do I need to make my portraits look awesome?

Okay, just to explain, I'm not trying to do this for business. I'm doing it for fun and practice (lots and lots I need). I'm taking a photography class here and there but I can't afford to study it full time, so I do a ton of research and trial and error. I just want to know what kind of materials will I need to do portraits in my home or outside (of friends, family, etc)? I have the D7000 and 50mm 1.8 to work with. I'm also shopping around for an affordable flash that will bounce light and also contribute to better portraits (so any suggestions will be welcomed). I have been told that the Promaster 7500EDF was a good alternative to the Nikon brand flashes, but if the price difference between that and their flash isn't that extreme and nikon's is better quality, I'd prefer the better one. Ok, give me some great answers! Thanks!

Added (1). (affordable equipment and anything DIY) thanks

Added (2). Thanks for the answers. I have already started working on it and I agree that communication and lighting are extremely important.

Distant photography Nikon D7000?

I was looking to buy a Nikon D7000. But my only concern is the distant shooting. Can it take long-range shots and still be very clear? Or does that depend on the additional lens. If so, what lens should I get for photography in country land on mountains, and so on. Thank you.

Added (1). Is 18-105mm far enough? About how far is the "reach"

What are some great cameras for distant shooting?

I'm looking for one of the top cameras but with very far zoom. Or is the zoom dependent on the additional lens I get. I was looking mainly at the Nikon D7000. I see it is a great camera and one of the top. But is it capable of taking clear pictures from far. What type of lens would I want to get for it. Because I do go overseas to countries with a bunch of mountains. And I love to take pictures of other mountains while on top of one.

What type of bag should I use?

I'm traveling in United States. I'm traveling to different cities in 10 days. I'm going to use buses as my source of transportation. But, my problem is that I don't know what type of bag should I use. Because I'm going to jump from one city to another city in just 10 days. I'm sleeping on the bus. I want to bring a bag that could fit all my clothes. And I want it to be easy to bring along. At the same time, I have my Nikon D80 to bring along, my books (just 2 probably) and of course my toiletries. If there's a bag that has a small bag attach to it, so that I could separate them whenever I wish, that would be great. So, that when I can, I can put the big bag in the bag compartment and I can hold on to the small bag (where my books, my camera and my toothbrush going to be). But, when I move, I can just attach the small bag back to the big bag. Any suggestions?

Is this product compatible with a Nikon D3100?

I've seen it listed on a forum as being compatible but the website doesn't seem to show the D3100 as an option.
