Distant photography Nikon D7000?
I was looking to buy a Nikon D7000. But my only concern is the distant shooting. Can it take long-range shots and still be very clear? Or does that depend on the additional lens. If so, what lens should I get for photography in country land on mountains, and so on. Thank you.
Added (1). Is 18-105mm far enough? About how far is the "reach"
It depends on the lens you fit onto the front. A 70-300mm lens or the Sigma 150-500mm lens will give you a lot of 'reach'.
The body isn't the most important part of this question: the LENS is…
you can only take "distant" shots with a telephoto lens attached…
depending on the lens focal length will depend what you can shoot…
though it also what you define as "distant" shooting…
i use a telescope to shoot the moon… And a 70-300mm lens to shoot animals…
what you shooting and what you wanting to show?
It's all in the lens, the D7000 can do anything you want it to.
Nikon makes very, very good long telephoto lenses, and wide angle lenses as well. The good stuff is not cheap, the price of the really good long lenses is in the multiple thousands of dollars, each.
To stand on top of a mountain and shoot something at the bottom, you need a long telephoto. A 600m f/4 can do it, but the cost is breathtaking for many people!
You don't need a telephoto lens if you want to shoot mountains or other landscpaes. You want to go as wide as possible with shorter focal lengths. The 18-105 kit lens shoulbe be enough. If you want to shoot birds or animals where the distance between the camera and the subject counts, then that's when you need a telephoto lens.
