Settings for a Nikon D90 at a party?
I'm not a professional photographer, but hope to be one day. I have a D90 that I'm still learning with. A friend wants me to take photos at her birthday party. She knows that I'm not a professional and I'm not being paid. So, please don't post about how she should hire a real photographer.
The party is in a low lighted cabin next to a lake in the middle of the day. We will be both inside and outside.
I'm using the 18-105mm 1:3.5-5.6G lens that came with my camera. Could anyone recommend settings for the best photos? I'll be doing portraits, group shots and random party shots.

I using Nikon D90 and want to buy a Micro lens… I just come across this lens, want your view on this or you can suggest me if any…

I have a Nikon D3000 and really into landscape photography. I just finished a project on black and white flowers. I also do a lot of pictures for my brothers' sports (football lacrosse hockey and baseball). So I was wondering if there were any good lenses that are a reasonable price for me to buy?

I have a Nikon D60 and I would like to have some red in my B&W composition… I'm puzzled to how it is done… Is it done at developing?

Can i get a remote control for my Nikon D3100?
Can i get a remote control for my Nikon D3100?

Which one of these cameras are better?
The Nikon D5000, the new Nikon D51000, Canon EOS Rebel T3 with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Kit or EOS Rebel T3i with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Kit.
Added (1). I don't care price wise, I just want to know which one would take the best quality pictures and the easiest to use, but mostly just the best quality.

I live in metro-area Iowa and am wondering which stores are going to sell the Nikon D40 camera, if any. I've looked a bit online and tried looking at Best Buy/other electronics stores online, but I'm not finding many listings of D40s. Do they still sell them in retail areas? I know there are newer versions of Nikon cameras, but I don't want to spend a fortune. Also, which lens does the D40 come with? If I buy the body online, or buy the camera with a lens, how do I know if it's the lens that I want? (I realize that doesn't make a ton of sense… I'm a fairly new photographer and I've used the D40 before and loved it, but I don't want to buy a camera online and have it come with a different or more specific lens than what it comes with originally.)

Ok I'm trying to create a 90's look to my portraits as far as the tones and noise amount to use in photoshop but how else can I achieve this? I want that old school look somewhat and is there a site or something I can go on to get this affect?
Thanks
P.S. I have a Nikon D5000 with a 18-55mm lens

Anyone have any Nikon D7000 tips for getting sharp and very focused images?
I've had the D7000 for several months now and although I'm a very amateur photographer, I'm very FRUSTRATED with my lack of crispness and focus in my images. I have used a D90 in before and those images turned out incredible compared to anything I can get in my camera… That was with the lens that comes with it too.
I'm using a Nikkor 50mm/1.4, shoot in manual and raw. I have taken a few workshops, but still am not loving what I'm getting.
Any help?
