Why can't I get the Continuous burst mode in a Nikon d7000 to work?

So, I recently got the Nikon d7000 and would like to use the burst mode. I clicked on the release mode dial lock and turned the release mode dial to CH. This burst mode should give me 6 fps, but instead I get about 1fps when I hold down the shutter for several seconds.

I've tried different modes to get 6fps (scene modes, auto, P mode with high shutter speeds, S mode with the highest shutter speed, various A & M modes) and whenever I press the shutter I get these really slow clicks (about 1 fps).

I would like to point out that I was able to do this at one point, but now I can't. I'm not sure if I touched something when I first got it, but does anyone know why this is happening? How would I be able to fix it?

Point & Shoot or DSLR?

It would be a Sony Cybershot Tx9 vs a Nikon D3000

I want professional looking pictures but also easy to use (for my dad will be taking most of the pictures) for a trip to California.

What are some tips on choosing and purchasing a good DSLR camera?

I'm slightly lost on selecting a DSLR camera and would appreciate some help!

First off, I need the camera to be capable of taking nice video, as I work in broadcasting and want to use the camera for lots of personal video work on my own time. Secondly, I want it to be a camera that will last a VERY VERY long time because it is an expensive purchase. Even though I'm very knowledgeable with profession video cameras and somewhat familiar with DSLR, it needs to be user friendly as this will be an introduction into the world of DSLR cameras for me!

I have already done a little research but I'm a little torn between whether or not I should go the Canon or Nikon route. What are the main differences between the two companies?

Some models I was looking at:

NIKON - D3100 (cheapest but would it do what I want it to do?)
NIKON - D5100
CANON - T2i
CANON - T3i (has flip out video screen which would be an asset)

What are the "ins and outs" of each of these cameras? Which one do you think would be the most suitable for me and why?

Also, what are some accessories you recommend I purchase (other than a tripod, SDHC card and case)?

I appreciate all the help!

How to photograph moving objects with a Nikon D5000?

I'm new at using DSLR cameras and recently got one.
When I'm trying to photograph moving objects, such as people walking, the auto focus doesn't work very well. In an auditorium, the subject comes out blurry.
What settings should I use to get clearer shots of moving objects/people? Tips? Suggestions? Websites?

Cameras like the nikon d90?

Wanting to buy myself a good camera for photography. I only have a digital camera but am looking for something better. I don't really know where to start looking, but my friend has the nikon d90 and it is really good and i think it is exactly what i'm looking for. But i'm not 100% sure because i don't really know what to look for or if there's anything else better out there that is similar. Any suggestions of any other dslr cameras i would like or that are slightly better, or any reviews on this camera?

Nikon D3100 lens broke? - 1

The lense that came with my nikon fell and broke into three pieces, the mount, this thing that I'm guessing enables the lense to zoom in/out. Without that piece I can see the circits and wires and all that. And then finally the lense. Will I be able to fix it? Or should I buy a new one? I have insurance but I don't know if it covers that.
