Looking to improve. Literally no one where I live is any good at photography and I'm completely blown away by the photos I see online and on photography forums, so hopefully some of you can help me out and tell me how I can improve. I'm currently using a Nikon D80 and have been shooting in full manual and know how to control ISO, Aperture, and Shutter Speed. Are there any other settings that could help me out or filters that I should buy? And editing ideas that can fix some issues in Photoshop or Apple's Aperture?

I don't think facebook is the best place to share photographs, try flickr or 500px.

pics I like:

http://www.facebook.com/...=1&theater - I like that the guy isn't looking at the camera and the editing works

http://www.facebook.com/...=1&theater - This is a nice portrait of the kid, it shows some of his personality

http://www.facebook.com/...1&theater- great timing here they must of really liked this pic

things i would change:

http://www.facebook.com/...1&theater- this shot is too busy, there's a lot going on and the contrast is too much

http://www.facebook.com/...1&theater- same thing here a tad bit too much contrast and the water being overexposed doesn't work in my opinion

http://www.facebook.com/...=1&theater - the composition is static here

overall nice job, I like the creativity in your portrait shots
