Between the two I think the Nikon D5100 may have a slight advantage over the Canon T3i on high ISO noise. One possible advantage of the Canon is that they have a 70-200mm IS f4 lens, that is less than half the price of the Canon or Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 lenses.
Of course unless you know someone who can get you a photography pass for these concerts, you will have to leave all that stuff home.

Most venues won't allow you to have those large fancy cameras anyways
a lot of my mainland friends was kicked out when security saw their cameras
I would say the d5100 though
unless you have special privileges you arent allowed large cameras
regular digital ones are allowed though: D
unless you're going to a concert where its allowed
but i could be wrong
but its sad because my friend wanted to see Stephen Jerzak and security took her camera away and she started flipping out ):
they said theyd hold it for her but she didn't trust them

I suggest you try them both in stores and do detailed research of side by comparison, example in dpreview.com they have side by side image comparison. People saying Nikon performs better at high iso and making it as the main reason buy Nikon should aware that you really do not need high iso above 1600 on DSLR, if you go above that picture becomes grainier and not useful. At lower iso 1600 is most useable photos are taken and at low iso Canon performs better. Also canon T3i is aimed at serious beginner not ameature beginner and that's why it has more pro features and controls.

Nikon D5100 offers high-ISO boost settings up to 25, 600 ISO in 1/3 stop increments from 6400 ISO. The Canon Rebel T3i in comparison provides a single stop ISO boost setting to 12, 800 ISO (from 6400 ISO).

Both camera's offer an 'Auto ISO' where the camera determines the most suitable ISO setting based on the scene at hand. With both models you can cap the maximum ISO sensitivity that the camera can select when Auto ISO is enabled.
