Buying an SLR camera?

I'm looking at buying an SLR camera and I've narrowed it down to 4 cameras in 2 price categories.
- The Nikon D5100 or Canon 600D (Rebel T3i) and
- The Nikon D7000 or Canon 60D

Which camera should I get for both price categories?

Manual focusing AF lens?

I'm using a Nikon 50mm 1.8D on the D5000 and I know autofocus will not work because the D5000 does not have a motor. I have to manually focus and I thought it would be easy but I'm having a hard time on it. I adjust the focus ring until I see that the subject is clear but sometimes it's not perfect and I have to try again. When I'm focusing I see a dot light blinking in the viewfinder, what does that mean?

Added (1). Ohh the light tells you when you've focused: D

Canon 60d, or the Nikon d7000?

I have to admit I like the handeling more on the Nikon, but the 60d has a rotating screen and is a lot beefier to hold than the D7000, which is good for me because I have big hands. Not to mention the 60d has a 18mp sensor, although I find it's buttons and settings more dificult to manipulate than the D7000.So which one would you prefer and why? PS: I don't really care about video capability because I'm using it as a photography camera, not a video camera.

Added (1). @Just Another Writer I'm pretty sure the d7000 is more than an entry level, hell, for 1500 dollars it should be, plus it isn't the settings that confuse me it's the way they set up the buttons, they have that dumb wheel thing around the button pad and to change modes, you need to press down on a release switch.

How to set my Nikon D3100 image size recording as 600x400?

How do i set my Nikon D3100 to record photos as 600 x 400 automaticly. Currently, it records at small, at 1980x1000 something like that. Is it possible to set it so that it records photos at 600 x 400 and not 1980 x 1000? This is becoming a pain as if i want to upload the photo, a huge photo like 1980x1000 takes a bunch of time. It would take hours. Please help. Thanks

P.S. And yes, i know there's a retouch menu where i can make it smaller, but when i upload it, it just makes my photos crack alittle. And do i have to do it for every photo?
Is their a setting so i can take photos and it records automatically as 600x400?
