I have a Nikon D40x so its a bit older but not ancient but the M, A, S, and P modes always make the picture turn out blue. Can someone help me that know a bit more than I do to help me out and can get the pictures not so blue?

Blue images have nothing to do with the exposure mode you are using.

It has all to do with the white balance setting you are using.

My guess is you are shooting outdoors with the white balance set to incandescent (indoor tungsten lamps)

You may want to spend more time with your user manual to learn this stuff

Check your white balance setting. If outside… Set to cloudy. Inside… Auto or whatever type light you are in will work. (incandescent or fluorescent)

It just takes some practice… If you have exposure figured out you are 95% good to go.

Yep, it's a white balance issue. I suspect that in the auto mode, the camera is using auto white balance, but when you take it out of auto mode (any of the PSAM modes), the camera is probably using whatever you have the white balance set to.

Go into the camera's menu and set the white balance to auto and see if that doesn't help. There are reasons not to use auto white balance, but to make sure it is an errant white balance setting, putting the white balance on auto to test it will reveal the issue.
