Been using a Nikon D3100 for video recording for a bit now and just got a new shotgun mic. Unfortunately i realized that the D3100 only has an Audio Out jack on it. Any way to get the mic connected directly to the camera? If not, any recommendation as to how to get better audio for the D3100.
Is it worth changing my Nikon D3000 body to D90 body?
Or it is better to look for new lens for Nikon D3000?

Merry Christmas first off.
Now down to the question. I was supposed to be getting a Nikon D3100 SLR camera for my birthday but it hasn't happened. And there was one at a brilliant price but now they're all gone. Now, I can wait and see if they come in (so any reviews of the Nikon would be great) OR! I can get a different model.
And that's where you guys come in! This will be my first SLR but I want it to be good so it will last me for ages. The Nikon D3100 has video, which is an advantage but by no means a deal breaker. So fire ahead with suggestions! Tell me what experience you've had with various makes, what you know to be good/bad, what to look out for.

Any good camera tripods for DSLR?
I have a nikon d3100 no fancy lenses or anything. I like videoing, and am looking for something that I can pan SMOOTHLY, and goes up and down. Not too bothered about tilting. What's 3 way and 2 way heads? What's a pan and tilt head? What's fluid head? What would be best for me? I'm not looking to spend hundreds by the way. How long does my NIKON D5100 battery last?
It's a "Nikon EN-EL14 Lithium-Ion" battery and I can only use my camera (Nikon D5100) for about an hour before I have to recharge. Is this normal? It is really bothersome…

I've read somewheres on the internet that the Nikon D3100 DSLR camera does not have an Autofocus motor and that a special type of lense is required to have it.
Does this mean the background in pictures won't be blurred unless I have those lenses?
