How to take a Camera strap off?
I just got a Nikon D40x for Christmas and it came with a colorful cushion on the strap but I don't like it very much. How can I take the camera strap off so that I can slide the cushion off?

Do they make a cable release for nikon d3000?
I see they make one for d3100 but not mine
Added (1). I looked at the ml-l3 and it doesn't say it works on d3000 i need to know for sure

Which kit lens should I start out with?
I don't have enough money to get more than one lens right now.
Do you think I should start out with the 18-55mm or the 55-200mm?
This will be for my Nikon D5000, by the way.
I will end up buying the Nikon 35mm or 50mm f/1.8G lens in the near future.

This is probably a very silly question, but I recently bought a nikon d90 used off amazon and got it in the mail yesterday. I charged the battery, put on a lens, put in a memory card, but when I turn it on the only thing that happens is the top screen shows aperture, shutter speed, etc - the lcd does not show anything, and the camera does not respond when you try to take a photo.
Is there something that I'm missing - something really stupid that enables you to turn a camera on? Or did I stupidly buy a broken camera?

How to argue my point about this camera?
I asked my parents to buy me an slr camera this Christmas. I wanted either the Canon 1100D or the Nikon D5100, however, my father wants to buy me a Samsung.
I know that Samsung does not produce top notch slr camera's, but I don't know how to argue this to my father and convince him the the Nikon or Canon will be worth every cent.

What type of lens are appropriate for my needs?
I'm not a serious photographer or anything. I like to blog so I like to take pictures everyday of what's going on, nothing too fancy (mostly pics of food tbh) I have a nikon d3100. What I'm looking for in lens is a really sharp focus. Kind of like macro but not always close up. I don't really have a budget or anything but nothing too expensive please.

I Recently found an add for a 3 year old Nikon D40 for $250, I called the seller and I'm going to take a look at it tomorrow. I would like some tips on what I should look for. And also do you think that is a good deal for a 3 year old camera?

A career like or close to this description?
I use to want to be a wildlife biologist because I would love to travel and be with the environment/animals. Before/during/after that I wanted to be some type of photographer because I noticed I really loved to take photos of nature & landscape. But then not long ago I changed my mind and wanted to be a paramedic because I wanted to help people. I'm in a teen age where I keep on changing my career but I really want to figure out what I want to be. Please TAKE YOUR TIME TO READ THIS AND NOT JUST READ THE QUESTION AND ANSWER LIKE OTHER DUMB PEOPLE WOULD DO:/ Thank you.
okay, so this is how I had it in mind. Pretend I'm in an adult age. EXAMPLE: I go travel with a friend to… Haiti! & I go take really good and meaningful pictures of their land and people. Then I come back to US And go to states/cities around. And… Go to a sidewalk where people advertise, talent, etc. And I'm there in a stand or something of some sort and have a television showing a really nice slideshow of what's going on in haiti to let people donate money on a.bucket? To help them. Then I go back to haiti and donate 100% of the money for food, shelter, clothes, toys, etc. The only problem will be that I won't get no money to travel or to live if I go on something like that… But as you notice, its traveling, photography, & helping people/environment.
Is there any kind of career like that or something close to but I can make money? Because if I had a choice to do it without EVER being payed, I would, but I wouldn't even be able to purchase one plane ticket, you know? & right now I'm saving up for a d90 nikon camera since I love photography and have been. So please if you can help me it, will mean A LOT TO ME! Thanks!
Added (1). I as just setting haiti as an EXAMPLE. Someone would hve said the same thing if i chose a city from US And someone would be like "why not around the world, not just usa So it was just an example okay.
