Does any one have any good pointers for me on the Nikon D5100?
I bought my Nikon D5100 this past saturday and I have been reading the manual. I'm a beginner, to say the least but I would like to have a few pointers or some advice on my dlsr. Like, what mode seems to work for portraits outside and inside? RAW vs JPG? Little quirks and tid bits like so is what I'm interested in. I know as I go, I will learn on my own but advice couldnt harm me. My sister in law wants me to take a few pictures this weekend for fun, but I would like to have someone's opinion on a setting to start off on.
Thanks!
Added (1). I forgot to add, that I do have another lens I bought with it, all in a bundle package. It is the 55-200mm.

Is this Nikon a good quality camera?
If you have this camera is it good? I want a nice quality picture camera? If You have another suggestion, i'd be pleased to read it. My price range is 500 or lower.

Macro lens advice for nikon camera?
I have recently bought a nikon D5100 and i would like some advice on macro/micro lens for it.
it must be an af s lens, and i was hoping not to spend more than 400 usd, but i can increase the budget if it's really worth it. I would mainly use it to snap shots at insects and small critters in general.
All advice is welcome, and if you could link personal pictures or stuff from the web as examples all the better!

I've just bought myself a Nikon D5100 which comes with a 18-55mm VR Lens Kit. However I'm looking at buying a lens that can be used for portraiture and, more specifically weddings.
Can anyone recommend something that will give me some detailed clean shots with perhaps something that allows for bright pictures.

I'm a beginner in photography and haven't owned an SLR camera before, but I'm serious about learning it and next year I would like to take a GCSE in photography. I'm really into the art side of photography and am not a person that just wants to point a shoot on holiday ect.
I want a beginners SLR camera which is really great quality and has many features and modes.
I would like something under £650.
I have been looking at the Nikon d3100 and d5100 which look really good.
Can anyone give me any advise on what camera I should buy?

I have £90 to spend on accessories for the Nikon d3100 what should I get?
I would like to get decent stuff but a lot of stuff at the same as all I have is the camera with 18-55mm lens and a bag?
What should I get please list essentials first and then others

Don't know which to choose. Nikon D3000, Nikon D60, or Sony Nex 3?
I need a Dslr camera for my photography class but can't choose which camera is worth buying. They all come with accessories. Please tell my why you think that camera is better

I know how to use the self timer on my camera, but does anyone know if I can buy a remote to take photos without having to press the shutter myself? Or if this camera can even support a remote at all?

How to work the nikkor 50mm 1.8 ais with my nikon d3100?
Pictures are just black when taken

The flash pops up but sparks when I take a picture. Is there any way to get to the bulb without unscrewing it, because those are so small screws. XD
Added (1). I mean to say I think a wire is lose and it is sparking, not flashing. What's the easiest way to get to the bulb.
